‘Long Island Medium’: Theresa Caputo Thinks Everyone Has the Ability to Connect With the Dead
Long Island Medium is back, and we’re excited to see what happens next in Theresa Caputo’s world. Fans know Caputo best for her incredible ability to talk to the dead. And while we’re now also familiar with her family drama, especially her divorce from her husband, Larry, we still get to see her use her incredible gift during every episode of the show.
There’s no doubt Caputo is special, but she firmly believes that everyone has the ability to connect with spirit in some way. Here’s what she just said during an interview about how the average person can also speak with the dead.
Theresa Caputo was initially terrified that she could connect with spirit
Caputo is used to speaking with the dead now, as she’s stated spirit has been contacting her since she was a little girl. She explains on her personal website that she sought help for what she was experiencing when she was in her 20s, and it was a spiritual healer who finally helped her understand her gift. While it’s hard for her to try and explain the phenomena she experiences, she completely trusts that it’s real.
It wasn’t always easy for Caputo to accept that she had this gift, either. She told People that when she met her now-ex-husband, Larry, “He just thought I was crazy,” as she would let out “bloodcurdling screams, like a crazy person,” from her anxiety. “If I was in a car and I was having anxiety, whether I was feeling something or just the fear that something was going to happen, I would just start screaming: ‘I need to get out of here!” Caputo when on to explain.
She now hopes to use her gift to help others
Despite her initial anxiety over contacting spirit, Caputo knows she has a special gift, and she hopes to use it for good. Not only does Caputo have her show, but she only speaks to clients one-on-one to help them connect their deceased loved ones, and she goes on tour. And while she’s made her gift her livelihood, there’s no doubt she also hopes to use it to bring peace to those she speaks to.
As Caputo explains on her website, “I’m grateful for an ability that’s brought countless people comfort and joy, helped many believe in an afterlife, led others to trust that their loved ones are safe and at peace, and shown them that those souls are guiding, encouraging, and loving them from the Other Side.” She also added that she hopes “Spirit gives them a message that brings them the most peace at that moment.”
Caputo believes everyone has the ability to talk to the dead
Caputo’s been making the rounds on talk shows lately since Long Island Medium is back, and she just went on The X Change Rate to speak about her gift. While we know Caputo is unusual, she mentioned that she believes everyone has some medium-like abilities of some sort.
“I think all of us have a little bit of medium-ness, have that connection with our own departed loved ones,” Caputo said. She then added that while she’s “a little bit more intuitive” than the average person, she still believes that many can feel when the souls of their deceased loved ones are near.
“I believe we all have that connection with our loved ones,” she added. “So you know those little things that go on around you that either just remind you of your loved ones, or, you know, that just makes you think of them like out of nowhere? It’s their way of letting you know that they’re with you at that exact moment.”
