Aside from ‘Love & Hip Hop,’ Sierra Gates is an entrepreneur

Gates has been a supporting cast member on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta since the sixth season. She was upped to series regular status for the show’s ninth season. On the show, most of her storylines have been related to her relationship with ex-husband Shooter Gates.

However, she began dating BK Brasco in the seventh season after she separated from Shooter. The ninth season has seen Gates deal with a lot of more issues in her personal life, including legal issues that are a result of claims that she punched a pregnant woman that Shooter was also dealing with, as well as her feud with Karlie Redd.

Aside from Love & Hip Hop, Gates is an entrepreneur. She owns multiple businesses, including The Glam Shop in Atlanta. During the pandemic, she has been hosting entrepreneurs for black businesswomen. Last month, she told Essence, “We really have to come together more as a unit to just figure this all out. What I’ve been doing, and what God laid on my heart, is just encouraging women to start their own. And I feel like my assignment during these times is to use my platform to pour into other women. What can I do to help my sister or the girl next to me?”

She has advice to give during the pandemic

In an interview with BET Digital, Gates spoke more about what she’s been up to during quarantine and how she’s been saving her money during a time when most people need it most.

“I make most of my money through my microblading tours, and with everything that’s been going on, I’ve had to cancel a lot of them,” she said. My microblading tour has slowed down, but I have really been focused on helping women start their own businesses during this pandemic through my platform, webinars, and my latest e-book, How to Make a Million, Maintain a Million.”

Gates said that she’s been telling people that now is the time to save money instead of spending money. “I have friends who are in the house bored and spending money shopping online,” she explained. “This is not the time to spend money! Now is the time to come up with a plan. I think it’s crucial to plan your days, create a daily schedule, and stick with it. Lastly, pray because with everything going on right now, you are going to need God by your side.”

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta season 9 is currently streaming via VH1 on-demand.
