‘Love Is Blind’: Why Mark Says He Feels ‘No Ill Will’ Toward Jessica Now

A lot of the drama on Love Is Blind involves Mark Cuevas and Jessica Batten. It all started before they even saw each other and their troubles continued once they were out of the pods as an engaged couple.

Many fans turned on Batten for her actions on the show. Cuevas has a different perspective on the situation. This is the reason he has no ill will toward her. [Spoiler alert: Spoilers for season 1 of Love Is Blind!]

Mark Cuevas and Jessica Batten met on ‘Love Is Blind’

One of the couples that formed in the show’s first season is Cuevas and Batten. They both happened to be from Chicago and bonded over that.

However, Batten also had a connection with Matthew Barnett in the pods. She left Cuevas for him, but after Barnett changed his mind she came back. Batten also admitted she was hesitant about being with Cuevas because he is 10 years younger than her.

They got engaged and later in the process it was obvious Batten was more attracted to Barnett, who was engaged to Amber Pike, than Cuevas. She still moved forward with her relationship with Cuevas.

Batten ended things once it was time for the wedding. The couple is still no longer together and now they’re talking about their experiences from being on the show.

It was obvious that Batten wanted out of her situation throughout the process. However, she claimed she tried to quit.

“Yeah, I mean, I had to stay,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I definitely had a conversation about leaving and I wasn’t able to do that. My dog got sick too, and almost died during the show, I had so much other stuff going on.”

The show’s creator, Chris Coelen did tell the same publication that they don’t force couples to stay together. “Well, they obviously could back out of it or not go through with it if they wanted to because there was one couple that didn’t go through with [the wedding],” he said. “So nobody was forced to do anything.”

That couple would be Diamond Jack and Carlton Morton. The show stopped showing them once they broke up in Mexico.

He said he feels no ill will toward her

Cuevas talked about what his feelings are about the breakup today. This was also after reuniting with Batten at the reunion.

“I saw Jess at the reunion,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I think it was just a lot of emotions at first. But by the end of it, we both looked at each other like, dude we went through this together.”

He continued, “She’s always going to have a special place in my heart. It was such a mind-opening experience. I have no ill will towards her and I wish her nothing but the best and success in any relationship, career, whatever she decides to do.”

Fans will have to watch the reunion which will be available on March 5 to see what he asked Batten.
