‘LPBW’: Fans Think Matt Roloff’s Girlfriend, Caryn Chandler, Is an Amazing Grandparent to His Grandchildren
We’ve been watching Little People, Big World for over a decade, and the dynamics within the Roloff family have completely changed. While Matt and Amy Roloff began the show as a happily married couple raising their four kids and taking care of Roloff Farms, such is no longer the case. The Roloff kids are all grown up (and many now choose to remain off-camera). And Matt and Amy are officially divorced and pursuing new relationships of their own.
There is plenty of controversy with Matt’s girlfriend, however. Caryn Chandler has been dating Matt for years, and fans remain divided on how they feel about her. Now, it seems many are in her corner and believe she’s an incredible grandmother to his grandkids. Here’s why.
Amy Roloff claims Matt and Caryn Chandler were seeing each other behind her back
This past season of LPBW showed Matt and Amy at serious odds — especially when it came to the fate of Roloff Farms. While the two decided to both stay on different sides of the property post-divorce, Caryn Chandler, who was a manager on Roloff Farms before she and Matt were romantically involved, was also living with Matt on his side. And it became quite clear through their interactions that Chandler and Amy were not happy to be around each other.
Amy released a memoir that included some scathing claims about Matt and Chandler, too. In her book, A Little Me, she explained how Matt was cheating on her with a farm employee during their marriage. “Then it dawned on me. Matt and our farm manager, who had been working for us a number of years by then, seemed to have more than just a working relationship or friendship,” Amy wrote. And she included information regarding inappropriate “messages” and “pictures” she saw exchanged as well. “I was devastated,” she added.
Amy has also disapproved of Chandler spending time with her family in the past
Even before Amy wrote her memoir, she disliked Chandler appearing at family events. And while fans long suspected that Amy was just jealous of Chandler’s relationship with Matt and her kids, we now know there was more to their past history. When Chandler appeared at Tori Roloff’s gender reveal party for her now-2-year-old son, Jackson, Amy expressed her disappointment. In Touch Weekly notes she said, “Seeing Caryn here threw me for a loop more than I would have liked. I think coming here to this particular event is an intimate family thing… It just throws a whole different dynamic to my life here on the farm.”
Despite the drama, it seems Chandler is maintaining a great relationship with Amy’s kids. She frequently posts photos of her with the other Roloffs and their children on her Instagram. And it’s even more interesting to note that none of Amy’s kids outwardly promoted her memoir that contained the scathing claims against Caryn.
Fans think Chandler makes an amazing step-grandmother
There are plenty of LPBW fans on Amy’s side. But even so, many can’t deny that Chandler does seem to make an excellent grandmother to Zach and Jeremy Roloff’s children. They both have toddlers around the same age, and there are plenty of video clips of Chandler playing with the kids on Matt’s Instagram. In his most recent clip, Chandler is helping Zach and Tori’s son, Jackson, as he’s using a new slide.
“Love it, Caryn has a special grandma place in Jackson’s heart you can tell,” one fan commented. And another wrote, “He is so adorable. You both are amazing grandparents. Jackson is a lucky little boy.” Yet another commented on Chandler’s presumed nickname for being the step-grandma, too. “Cha cha, I like that nickname for Caryn. that’s probably what the grandkids will call her. she is so good with them,” they wrote.
We’re not sure how Amy feels about Chandler spending so much quality time with the grandkids. But we’re hoping everyone’s getting along better now. And we can’t wait for even more grandkids to enter the Roloff world soon!
