‘LPBW’: Is Amy Roloff Inviting Matt to Her Upcoming Wedding?
Getting remarried is usually a joyous occasion, a sort of light at the end of the tunnel. But in moving on to your new life, how much of your old life do you bring along? Little People Big World star Amy Roloff has had to ask herself that question as she plans her wedding with Chris Marek. Will she invite her ex-husband Matt Roloff, who she shares four children with, and his girlfriend, Caryn Chandler, to the nuptials? Or would she leave him out?
Matt and Amy’s divorce
Though Matt and Amy’s relationship was far from perfect, it still came as a shock to Little People, Big World fans when the two announced they were splitting after 26 years together.
“Though we have weathered many storms together, we recently made the tough decision to engage in a trial separation,” they told People in 2014.
Initially, they continued to live on the same property.
“Matt remains living on the farm in our guest house and we work together every day on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children.”
They officially filed for divorce in June of 2015 and the divorce was finalized in May of the next year.
Will Matt be invited to Amy’s wedding?
Now, Amy has found love again with Marek and is excited to take their relationship to the next level. But there are a few people who may not be celebrating with her.
“It’s not like they’re not going to be invited,” Amy told Us Weekly of Matt and his girlfriend.
“We kind of already have the impression that it’s not something that they’re interested in going to,” Marek said. “They’re welcomed if they’d like to come. We don’t want anyone coming to our wedding out of obligation. The wedding is supposed to be about good friends and close family. And I like Matt. I get along with him fine and Caryn. But we’re not friends that hang out. We don’t do things together. They’re welcomed if they’d like to come, but I don’t want them to feel obligated.”
Though Matt and Amy are long over, they do share a long history and children, so they will always be in one another’s lives.
“He’s the father of my kids. I was married to him for a long time. He’s the grandfather of my grandkids and stuff,” Amy said. “They’re more than welcome. But like Chris said, and I would totally agree, I just don’t want to invite someone because we’re inviting them.”
It’ll totally be up to Matt if he decides to come to the wedding or not.
“But, the past is the past,” she continued. “Things can change in the future. We’ll see. But like Chris said, we just want people there that are our family, that have been friends with us and we look forward to them continuing to be friends to support and encourage us in our relationship and things like that. It’s not that Matt and Caryn aren’t going to be invited.”
Amy, however, does not expect to be invited to her ex’s wedding whenever he decides to tie the knot with Chandler.
