‘LPBW’: Tori Roloff Explained How She’ll Deal With Bullies Picking On Her Son, Jackson

The current pumpkin season is officially over on Roloff Farms, which was the perfect time for Little People, Big World fans to head out to Oregon to meet their favorite members of the Roloff family. And when it comes to favorites, there’s no doubt Zach Roloff’s wife, Tori, has a strong following. Zach and Tori first met on Roloff Farms years ago and also married on the farm property. And now, they’re expecting their second child — a baby girl — in just a few short weeks while they’re also caring for their 2-year-old son, Jackson.

Jackson is absolutely adorable, and fans love seeing all the photos Tori posts of him. He has the same type of dwarfism as Zach and Amy Roloff do, too. Recently, Tori allowed her fans to ask questions about her family — and she just answered a follower who wondered how she’ll deal with potential bullies picking on Jackson as he gets older.

Zach and Tori Roloff’s son, Jackson, has achondroplasia dwarfism

While Tori is of average height, Zach has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism that affects bone growth but otherwise allows the person to live for an average lifespan. When they were first pregnant with Jackson, they knew their child had a 50% chance of having dwarfism, so it wasn’t too much of a surprise when Jackson also had achondroplasia. Even so, Tori noted how she still had her concerns despite knowing the risks. “It’s a big deal. It is scary. No parent wants to hear that their child is different, no matter what,” she said.

Despite Jackson’s differences, Tori and Zach made it known that they’d love all of their children whether their kids have dwarfism or not. And Tori’s been getting super candid on Instagram with Jackson growing up and the realizations she’s having with raising a child who’s different than her. As she captioned this Instagram post back in May, “I often forget that my son is any different than yours. … I forget that he’s different because he’s so capable and I see nothing other than my mister mister.”

Both Zach and Amy have talked about their histories with bullies on ‘LPBW’

Zach and Tori treat Jackson like any other kid, but there’s definitely concern over bullying. Zach’s famous mother, Amy, has talked at length on the show about her bullying experiences as a kid, and it seems she’s still affected by what happened to her. During one episode of LPBW, Amy sat down with her brother who is of average height and discussed her childhood. And she recalled one incident in grade school that involved another student taunting her, scaring her, and even following her back home to intimidate her. Eventually, her brother got into a physical fight with the student.

“Things from your childhood can affect you for the rest of your life,” Amy said on the show. “And I know it’s affected me for a long, long time, allowing other peoples’ opinions and thoughts matter more than what I truly thought about myself.”

As for Zach, he noted he never had to deal with intense bullying, however — and he credits Roloff Farms for giving him a safe place to go and play after school. “I’ve never dealt with anything like that. … It wasn’t like I showed up to school every day and the same kid was there ready to go,” he said.

Tori answered a fan who wondered how she’ll deal with Jackson’s bullies

With Amy’s stories about her bullying experiences of the past, it seems fans are wondering if Tori has a plan in place for if kids pick on Jackson. In this post of Zach and Jackson, Tori announced that it was International Dwarfism Awareness Day recently, and she encouraged her followers to ask questions. One follower asked, “How will you or do you handle bullies? With zack and Jackson do u ignore it or do you confront the bully?
I’m different in another way because I have mental illness and I’m always buillied so just asking!”

To that, Tori said she’s going to encourage Jackson to be autonomous in the way he deals with bullies. “I don’t think I’d do either. We would ignore or confront but instead set Jackson up to deal with it on his own with our support. It won’t help for Zach and I to take care of the situation. Jackson has to learn to deal with problems on his own,” Tori answered.

We’re hoping no one bothers Jackson as he ages, but if they do, we also know Tori and Zach will provide for him the tools necessary to get through it and come out on top. We can’t wait for the arrival of their second baby this November, too!
