Luke Perry’s Daughter Sophie Is Having a Hard Time Coping With His Death
Hollywood mourns for Luke Perry, who tragically and suddenly died on March 4 after suffering a massive stroke in late February. He was only 52.
Older fans remember Perry as one of the star cast members on 90210 while the younger generation is well-acquainted with the hit show Riverdale. Perry also appeared in popular movies including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Fifth Element, and 8 Seconds, among others.
Filming on the show Riverdale has halted temporarily and no formal announcements have been made on how the show will deal with his death.
Fans are devastated by Perry’s passing, but there are people close to Luke Perry who feel the loss even more deeply than those who celebrated his professional achievements. Perry’s children are especially heartbroken over the death of their father.
Who is Luke Perry’s daughter, Sophie Perry?
The actor had two children with his ex-wife Minnie Sharp. The pair wed in 1993 and stayed together for a decade before divorcing in 2003. They had two children during that time: Jack Perry, who is now a professional wrestler called “Jungle Boy,” and Sophie Perry, now 18.
Perry tried to be an involved father with his kids and had this advice for parents of teens: “Love them as much as you can. Talk to them as much as you can. Make time for them.”
What did Sophie say about Luke Perry’s death?
The death of the A-list actor came as a huge shock to everyone, including Luke Perry’s close friends and family. Now his daughter Sophie is speaking out publicly for the first time since her dad’s death.
“A lot has happened in this past week for me,” the Sophie posted on Instagram. “Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support.”
She went on to express her gratitude for the messages she received so far. Sophie said she “cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.”
Does Sophie have any advice for other children who lose their parents?
There’s no way to fully prepare to lose a parent or any loved one, for that matter. But Sophie Perry had some words of advice in the wake of her dad’s untimely passing.
“I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye,” she wrote. “So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”
It’s a variation on the classic: be grateful for today, because tomorrow is never promised. We wish Perry and her family healing and peace during this difficult time.
