Hargitay was born on January 23, 1964, so she grew up in the ‘70s. It’s an era still celebrated to this day with bell-bottom pants and wavy Farrah Fawcett hair. However, everything changed for a young Hargitay when her mother, Jayne Mansfield, was killed in a tragic car accident in 1967. Her mom was an iconic actor and major sex symbol at the time. Mansfield died along with her boyfriend, Sam Brody, and their driver, Ronald B. Harrison. Hargitay was also in the car at the time at the age of three with her two brothers, Zoltan and Mickey Jr.

Hargitay was raised by her father after the death of her mother. Mickey Hargitay had a career in bodybuilding and was a former Mr. Universe. Together with his wife, Ellen, they raised Hargitay and her two brothers together with her half-siblings.

Hargitay always seems to be sharing interesting throwback photos from the past, and she recently posted one for the record books. In the image from the ‘70s, a young Hargitay, just a child, is standing next to David Cassidy from The Partridge Family.

The hit series ran from 1970 to 1974, and Cassidy played Keith Partridge, a member of the Partridge family that forms a successful band. His stepmother, Shirley Jones, played his on-screen mother, Shirley Partridge. Cassidy was himself an accomplished singer and became an enormous celebrity synonymous with the decade. To say he had a worldwide following would be an understatement. Cassidy was the crush of many teenagers during his time in the spotlight, especially in the ‘70s. The actor, musician, and singer dealt with alcoholism during his life. He died at 67 years of age on November 21, 2017, from organ failure, according to Reuters.

In the unique and vintage photo, Hargitay can be seen as a child next to Cassidy with his arm around her and another girl. Hargitay captioned the post on Instagram: “On the …. day of Christmas my true love gave to me ….. , … , …, …. , and a partridge in a pear tree. 🦚🍐🎄 #tbt #70s #davidcassidy #bangs #BabyBensonInBellBottoms #BeforeTheBadge #minimariska #merrychristmas.”

Hargitay always uses the most interesting hashtags while sharing images from her past. It’s nice to see this iconic photo of her and David Cassidy from the ‘70s. Hargitay has since gone on to make a real name for herself in television and as an actor.
