‘Married at First Sight’: Katie Wishes Derek Had More ‘Game’ When It Comes to Sex, Wonders If She ‘Gave It Up’ Too Soon

Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman seemed like a promising young couple after they married as strangers on Lifetime’s Married at First Sight Season 10.

25-year-old Katie might have had some cold feet before the wedding because of an ex, but she and 26-year-old Derek hit it off so well on their honeymoon in Panama that many fans thought they’d make it. But in an exclusive PopCulture.com preview clip of the Feb. 19 episode of Married at First Sight, “Home Is Where Your Spouse Is,” it looks like things between Katie and Derek could be falling apart.

Katie told friends she wished Derek would initiate sex more often

In the preview clip, Katie and Derek enjoy time with friends in their new shared apartment in Washington, D.C. Katie and her friends Brittany and Kelly sneak into the bedroom with Katie’s dog Jax to discuss all things Derek in private.

“I want the deets,” one of Katie’s friends asks as the three girls climb onto the bed. “How was the honeymoon?”

“The honeymoon was good,” Katie says. “He brought the fire,” she adds slyly (referencing her bridesmaid’s infamous sexual advice to Derek during the wedding reception) when one friend asks if they “got sexual.”

Still, trouble could be brewing in the Married at First Sight star’s marriage. Katie tells Brittany and Kelly she’s not entirely happy with Derek in the bedroom, despite their honeymoon spark. “I kind of think that he could have a little more game,” she admits. “‘Cause I kind of, like…I initiated it.”

“I don’t know, maybe I gave it up too soon?” she wonders. “‘Cause he’s just not really…he’s not really going for it, not really making an effort.”

Katie also tells her friends it’s a “red flag” for her that Derek is about to turn 27 and has never been in love before. She wonders if he has enough experience to get into such a serious relationship.

“So he doesn’t say ‘I love you,’ and he doesn’t make the first move,” Brittany wonders, clearly worried about Katie’s marriage. “Maybe something will change.”

“Maybe,” Katie says nervously.

Derek’s take on his marriage so far was very different

Meanwhile, Derek doesn’t seem to be on the same page as Katie when it comes to assertiveness in the bedroom. “How’s everything in the bedroom going?” Derek’s friend Macon asks him.

The Married at First Sight star jokes in the clip, “I knew you’d ask me that. You are that friend.” He adds, “Things are going great. I’ll let it be at that. That’s all I gotta tell you.”

When another friend asks Derek who’s taking the initiative more often in terms of sex, Derek’s answer doesn’t match his wife’s. “I can’t say that it’s any one of us initiating it more than the other,” he says. “We’re both passionate individuals, and we’re both mutually making advances.”

The ‘Married at First Sight’ couple struggled after returning from their honeymoon

It will come as no surprise to many Married at First Sight fans that Derek and Katie aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on the Feb. 19 episode.

After they got back from their honeymoon, it seemed like the rose-colored glasses came off between the new couple. In a counseling session with Pastor Cal Roberson, Derek admitted he sometimes felt like he and Katie were “roommates” rather than husband and wife. He also revealed that he didn’t think he’d be able to fall in love with Katie for “at least six months to a year.”

Meanwhile, Katie confessed that she was still hurt by her breakup with an ex who ghosted her just before the wedding. She told Pastor Cal her lingering feelings and attraction towards her former fling were potentially keeping her from developing deeper feelings for Derek.
