‘Married at First Sight’: Michael Tells Meka He’s Not Going To ‘Waste His Breath’ With Her

Meka Jones and Michael Watson fell out almost immediately after getting married on Lifetime’s Married at First Sight Season 10. Meka thought Michael gave her a “honeymoon sex ultimatum,” and the newlyweds spent most of their time on their tropical vacation in Panama in separate rooms.

Since then, the couple has tried to make amends. But Meka still insists Michael is a liar, while Michael says he doesn’t feel comfortable with his wife. In a sneak peek from the Mar. 4 episode of Married at First Sight, “I Want You To Want Me,” Meka and Michael fight bitterly over their failing marriage yet again.

Meka questions Michael about what he wants from her

In the preview clip, Meka and Michael prepare for an upcoming date by discussing what they need from each other to improve their marriage.

“I feel like you shutting down and not wanting to have a conversation is not going to be beneficial,” Meka tells Michael, already annoyed. The Married at First Sight star asks her husband, “I told you what I need from you, so can you pinpoint exactly, like, specifically, what you need from me?”

The education specialist already looks over it as he flips through his phone absent-mindedly and responds, “I mean, this is a conversation we’ve already had several times. I need you to be a little bit more vulnerable.”

Meka shoots back, “How?! Mike, I’m tired of you saying the same stuff. Specific. Do you know what that means? Specific! I feel like I’m being vulnerable. So tell me, specifically, what do you need me to do?”

Michael says he wants his wife to be more ‘vulnerable’ and back off her anger

An equally aggravated Michael tells his wife he wants her to be less aggressive, less pushy, and more expressive. “I need you to communicate better,” he tells her. “I need you to not have this disposition with me all the time.”

The Married at First Sight star continues, “Your response is anger. Doesn’t really work for anybody. That’s not vulnerable. And your idea of being vulnerable has not worked, and it does not work.”

But Meka still doesn’t think Michael is willing to give her a chance or communicate his feelings clearly. “I feel like I’m being vulnerable,” she says again. “What do you want from me?”

Annoyed, Michael insinuates that Meka isn’t putting in any effort. “How? Please explain to me how you think you’re being vulnerable,” he says.

“Because I’m still showing up, and I’m still trying,” Meka says, adding that she has every reason not to trust him given his history of dishonesty (about his status as a yoga teacher and his new job, for example).

“Showing up is half the battle,” Michael says, clapping sarcastically to indicate he doesn’t think his wife is doing much at all to save their marriage. “That’s not enough.”

“So what is enough?” Meka presses.

“More than what you’re giving,” he snaps.

The ‘Married at First Sight couple’ butts heads about how to improve their marriage

After more back and forth banter, Meka tells Michael she doesn’t know how to make him happy. The new wife claims her husband has an idea in his head of what he wants from her, but doesn’t communicate his needs clearly. Then, she says, he “gets mad” when she doesn’t do what he imagined.

As for Michael, he seems to think the couple’s marriage is practically over anyway. “I’m not going to waste my breath to give you a whole list of stuff if I don’t think it’s gonna happen,” the Married at First Sight star tells his wife. “I don’t think it is.”

But Meka wants Michael to be open instead of closed off, and to give her the benefit of the doubt like she says she has for him. “I don’t know how our marriage is ever gonna work like that,” she laments. “You can’t predict how people are gonna act. You are not a freaking fortune teller.”

“I got three weeks of how you’ve been acting,” Michael responds, looking defeated. “That’s what I’m going off of.”

“I feel like you’ve shown me time and time again that you’re a liar,” Meka shoots back. “But I’m still like, ‘Show me that you are not a liar.’” When Michael doesn’t respond, she finally heads into the other room, muttering, “I can’t talk to a brick wall.” The clip ends as Michael leaves the apartment, backpack in tow, and seems to be over the marriage entirely.
