‘Martin: The Reunion’ Trailer Released by BET+
It’s time to get excited, Martin fans. This June, the cast of the hit ’90s sitcom will finally reunite for the BET+ special Martin: The Reunion. The program sits down Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, and Carl Anthony Payne II for a special conversation rehashing the history of the TV show. The Martin reunion trailer offers a peek at the magic ahead, but clearly, the best is yet to come.
The ‘Martin’ reunion explained
The reunion comes three decades after the show first landed on our TV screens. Hosted by comedian Affion Crockett, the special was taped on a recreated set of the living room from Martin and features a candid conversation between the cast.
“The cast will look back on the show’s most hilarious moments, revisit the iconic characters Martin made famous and pay an emotional tribute to the late, great Tommy Ford,” BET+ said in a statement shared with Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “Complete with musical performances and drop-ins by celebrity super fans, Martin: The Reunion brings back the wazzup wazzup wazzup passion fans have been waiting for.”

In the trailer, the Martin cast can be seen discussing everything from the best moments on Martin and the cultural importance of the show to the relationships between its cast members.
They also address the million-dollar question of whether a Martin reboot will ever happen. It was announced last year after speculation that talks of one had fizzled due to the loss of Thomas Mikal Ford, who played Thomas “Tommy” Strawn. But in the trailer, Lawrence appears to beam at the question, giving fans hope that it could still happen. Check it out:
The special arrives decades after the show premiered
Believe it or not, it’s been three decades since Martin first premiered on our TV screens. It ran for five hilarious seasons but ended in controversy in 1997. At the time, Lawrence and Campbell were embroiled in legal drama due to her claims that he’d allegedly acted inappropriately toward her on the set of the show. But Lawrence has said the situation was taken out of context, once calling it “a lot of bullsh**” to GQ.
In any case, it all seems to be water under the bridge now, and fans can’t wait to see everyone back together on the reunion.
