Marvel announced the newest movies for ‘phase 4,’ including ‘Black Panther 2,’ ‘Captain Marvel 2,’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’

From 2020-2021, Marvel has its hands full releasing new content, from television series’ exclusive to Disney Plus to a Black Widow movie, starring Scarlett Johansson. Additionally, Marvel’s to-be-released films have a few re-imagined characters joining the Avengers family. That includes a female Thor, portrayed by Natalie Portman, in the movie Thor: Love and Thunder.

Still, a few fan favorites are returning to the silver screen for their second (and third) sequels. According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the studios will produce Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and Captain Marvel 2. It might be a little while before these movies are finally released, as there are no official premiere dates.

Fans are excited about the new, upcoming marvel movies

Once Marvel made the announcements at San Diego ComiCon, fans took to Twitter, some praising the studio for their upcoming projects. Other viewers are not as excited about the timeline of Marvel’s impending movies.

“Black Widow opening phase 4? Captain Marvel 2? Jane Thor? Valkyrie looking for her queen? Sam-Bucky show? Kate Bishop? I truly don’t lose,” said one Twitter user.

Some fans made suggestions for future Marvel movies, one fan tweeting, “give Missy Elliott the Black Panther 2 soundtrack. She deserves the same opportunities her producer peers like Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Dr. Dre have gotten on major projects. She’ll demolish it… and it’s no shade, we need this next project to be for the black queer femmes throughout the diaspora. We need Big Freedia and Fela Gucci on very, very ignorant beat. That’s the energy we need. The black straights have had their fun!”

Twitter users poked fun at some of Marvel’s movies, one fan saying, “Black Panther 2: Shuri quotes vines for two and a half hours.”

When does the next Marvel movie come out?

Within the next three years, Marvel will release almost a dozen movies and television shows. The film to be most recently released by the studio is Black Widow, the origin story of the former Russian spy, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson.

“I’m very excited about it, and I have to say, I was nervous coming here because we’re in the middle of shooting right now, so it’s not a time that you could ever share anything with anybody on any side of the movie, particularly in this universe, where everything is just so huge, and the pressure’s on. But I’m really, really proud of what we showed today,” said Scarlett Johansson during an interview at ComiCon.

Marvel’s Black Widow premieres in the United States on May 1, 2020.
