Marvel is Reportedly Eyeing Brad Pitt for a Major Role in the MCU

Marvel is on the hunt for a new villain and Brad Pitt might be the perfect man for the job. There is currently a big Thanos-sized hole in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Josh Brolin’s exit in Avengers: Endgame and Marvel is going to have a hard time filling his shoes. While the studio certainly has a lot of villains to choose from, one way to top the Mad Titan would be bringing in an even bigger celebrity. But what are the chances that Pitt plays the next big bad in the MCU?

Marvel reportedly eyeing Pitt for major MCU role

Inside sources claim that Marvel president Kevin Feige has been wanting to give Pitt a big role in the MCU for quite some time. No word yet on which character Feige has in mind for the Ad Astra star, but we are definitely intrigued by the idea.

According to We Got This Covered, there are three potential characters that Pitt could play in the MCU, including Doctor Doom, Kang the Conqueror, an Annihilus.

It is important to note that Marvel has not confirmed the next big villain, so we’ll have to wait and see how this story develops.

There are also plenty of other actors in the running for these parts, so Pitt is up against some stiff competition.

One thing going for Pitt is that he has already appeared in a superhero movie, albeit it was not with Marvel.

The actor had a cameo in Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool 2. He played the part of an invisible man named the Vanisher, who was made visible after being electrocuted.

If Pitt does land a part with the studio, he might be forced to work with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie. This summer, Marvel announced that Jolie had been cast for a role in The Eternals, which is due out next year.

Who else if Marvel eyeing for major parts?

Pitt aside, there are plenty of other big-name actors who Marvel is reportedly courting. In the latest report on that front, the studio has been looking to snag John Boyega.

Boyega is getting ready to wrap up his final appearance as Finn in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. With his schedule about to open up, inside sources claim he might up for a part in the MCU. Anonymous sources say that Marvel wants Boyega to appear in a Phase 4 film, though they did not reveal which project he might join.

One possibility is Benedict Cumberbatch’s upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film is slated to be Marvel’s first venture into the horror genre and will reportedly feature Brother Voodoo.

Daniel Drumm, Voodoo’s brother, was killed in Doctor Strange by Kaecilius. Rumor has it that Voodoo will make an appearance in the sequel, and that Marvel is tapping Boyega for the part.

The Star Wars star, of course, has not commented on the rumors.

The reports come after it was revealed that Feige is going to produce a future Star Wars film. Feige is allegedly thinking about getting Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson to play a part in the project, though nothing official has been confirmed.

Is Marvel ruining Hollywood?

While we wait to learn more, Pitt’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, recently blasted Marvel for their continued success. According to Business Insider, the Friends star criticized the studio for “diminishing” Hollywood with all of its blockbuster films and hopes that this is just a phase.

“You’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it’s big Marvel movies,” Aniston shared. “Or things that I’m not just asked to do or really that interested in living in a green screen.”

Aniston may have a point. Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame just became the highest-grossing film of all time, passing James Cameron’s Avatar and Titanic. And with a slew of movies set for release in the upcoming years, the studio is not going anywhere.

The next movie in Marvel’s lineup is Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, which is set to open in theaters on May 1, 2020. That project will be followed by The Eternals, which kicks off next November.

Pitt, meanwhile, has not said anything about appearing in a Marvel movie. The actor is currently getting ready for the premiere of his latest film, Ad Astra.
