Marvel Phase 4: Is There A Secret Movie In The Works?
Marvel may have revealed its full timeline for Phase 4 at Comic-Con International a few weeks ago, but some fans are convinced that there is a hidden project in the works. After announcing a slate of movie and television projects for the next phase, Marvel president Kevin Feige seemingly let slip that there was one movie that was left out of the mix. Is there a secret Marvel movie coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)?

Marvel shares Phase 4 timeline
Marvel dropped some major bombshells during its Comic-Con panel last month. Some of the biggest news involved future solo films and new franchises that will get off the ground over the next two years. But following the panel, Feige said something curious that left fans wondering if Marvel held back a secret project.
According to We Got This Covered, Marvel announced 10 new projects at Comic-Con, yet Feige mentioned how he thought 11 projects in Phase 4 was good enough.
“We debated what we should announce today,” Feige shared. “Should we announce 4 and 5? We’ve planned them out, we’ve got five years down the road and I was like ‘I think eleven projects in two years is plenty.’”
The various projects Marvel announced included films like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, The Eternals, Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The studio also discussed several new television shows that are coming down the pipeline, such as Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, WandaVision, and What if?.
By our count, that makes 10 new titles. So why did Feige mention 11 projects in Phase 4 of the MCU? Could there be a secret project that Marvel does not want anyone knowing about?
Marvel’s secret movie possibilities
It is entirely possible that Feige was not teasing a secret project. In fact, the Marvel head could have been thinking about the Blade reboot, which was also confirmed at Comic-Con. That said, Feige previously revealed that Blade is going to be a part of Phase 5 of the MCU, which does not start until 2022.
So unless Feige was getting mixed up by all the major announcements, there is another project in the works that was left out of the discussion.
A strong candidate for the secret project is Spider-Man 3. The franchise, led by Tom Holland, just released its second solo outing in Spider-Man: Far From Home. But we all know that Marvel likes to release solo projects on a two-year rotation, which would put the next Spider-Man film at the end of Phase 4 or at the very beginning of Phase 5.
Beyond Spider-Man, it is anyone’s guess what Feige was thinking. There are several franchises in the Marvel line-up that are due for a sequel, including Black Panther and Captain Marvel, so there is no telling what is next in line.
Marvel executive teases additional movies
While Marvel’s announcement at Comic-Con featured a slew of titles, the company’s vice president of production, Victoria Alonso, recently teased that more projects are on the way. According to Hollywood Reporter, Alonso spoke at a convention called CG confab SIGGRAPH and revealed that fans can expect “much more to come,” not just what was announced last month.
Alonso did not reveal any specifics about future projects, but it sounds like Marvel has a lot more up its sleeve than it is leading on. Exactly when these movies or television shows get under is unclear, but it is exciting to know that more characters will be introduced over the next two years.
“The thing about Marvel is we have 6,000 characters in our library. There will be children forever telling these stories,” Alonso explained.
Which upcoming Marvel movie is the most popular?
While we wait for Marvel to make more announcements, fans recently voted on their favorite upcoming titles. In a poll released by Coming Soon, fans revealed which upcoming project was the most exciting – and the results may surprise you.
The movie that came in first was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which received 37 percent of the votes (which came to 945 votes). Thor: Love and Thunder came in second at 25 percent, while The Eternals and Black Widow tied for the next spot at eight percent.
Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson, is the first movie in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is scheduled to open in theaters on May 1, 2020.
