Marvel Teases Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel At Comic-Con 2019: Everything We Know
Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel might be coming to Marvel’s gaming platform soon. During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios released footage of an upcoming video game, titled Marvel’s Avengers, that featured a quick look at Ms. Marvel in action. Here’s everything we know about Ms. Marvel’s appearance at Comic-Con.
Inside Ms. Marvel’s cameo
The video game footage included some shots of San Francisco after an attack. Amid the destruction, a young girl is featured rocking a Captain Marvel shirt. The girl is shown yelling for her mom before she is overcome by Terrigen Mist.
This is a pretty clear callback to the comics, where Khan received her superhero powers after being exposed to the mist. It also helps explain some of the video game’s storyline.
According to IGN, the game features a female narrator who talks about meeting her heroes for the first time. The narrator, who is not identified in the footage, is very positive about her interactions with the Avengers, which matches up with Khan’s attitude in the comics. The narration also takes place five years after the events in the game, providing plenty of time for Khan to become Ms. Marvel.
The producers of the game have not confirmed the Ms. Marvel rumors, but it definitely looks like Khan is being introduced in the demo. Exactly how this unfolds, of course, is yet to be seen, but it is exciting to see Khan finally come to life.
Which characters have been confirmed?
Apart from Ms. Marvel’s potential cameo, we know that the game will feature quite a few of the Avengers in action. So far, the footage has confirmed that Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man are in the game. There have also been rumors that Ant-Man and Hawkeye will have brief cameos, though nothing official has been confirmed.
Crystal Dynamics, the company that developed the game, has been very secretive about the project and few leaks have surfaced.
The lack of spoilers makes it hard to say if Ms. Marvel will make an appearance, at least in her comic book form. The footage released at Comic-Con makes it pretty clear that we will at least see a young Khan in the game, though it is possible that her character is developed in a subsequent game.
There is also potential to see Captain Marvel show up in the storyline, though her involvement in the narrative has yet to be teased. Hopefully, we will learn more about the project in the coming weeks.
Marvel announces new game
In addition to the Avengers game, Marvel just released another Marvel Ultimate Alliance game this month. After enjoying a ten-year break, the franchise just released a new storyline with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.
The game is currently available on Nintendo Switch and is the first collaboration between Nintendo and Marvel on this scale. The storyline in Black Order centers on Thanos and his desire to obtain the Infinity Stones, which coincides nicely with Avengers: Endgame.
The narrative, however, is completely different from the Infinity War saga and takes place in a different universe. Marc Sumerak wrote the story for the game, which includes cameos from a variety of villains in the Marvel universe. This includes the Black Order, also known as the Children of Thanos, Green Goblin, Kingpin, and Ultron.
When it comes to heroes, there is no shortage of our favorite characters. Fans will be able to play alongside a slew of superheroes in this one, including Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Falcon, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Thor, Venom, Luke Cage, and Loki, just to name a few.
The new Marvel Avengers video game is scheduled to be released in May of next year. The game will be available for most gaming platforms, including PC, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Google Stadia. Playstation 4 users will have beta access to try out multiplayer mode when the game is released in 2020.
