MCU May Bring Hercules to Disney+ Via ‘Journey Into Mystery’
With Disney+ stepping up to the plate, offering big-budget enterprises to rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) installments, it’s set to become a large part of Phase 4 (and beyond). WandaVision will heavily sculpt Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Loki may come into this elaborate, multi-production illustration as well.
Not to mention, She-Hulk will likely influence an eventual A-Force that Captain Marvel is rumored to lead. In short, it should come as no surprise that Marvel Studios will continue to invest in Disney+ across time. According to Mikey Sutton — Marvel and DC insider — a new show is in development (or in early discussion) over at Marvel Studios… Kevin Feige may be planning to bring Hercules into the party.
Mikey Sutton releases scoop about ‘Journey into Mystery’ and Hercules
Insider Mikey Sutton took to his private Facebook group, Geekosity: All Things Pop Culture, to reveal his latest insider report. And, considering he has been accurate enough times in the past, his credibility remains rather strong in the industry. While every rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, this one involves Hercules, so you can’t help but get overly and overtly excited. Sutton shared:
SCOOP – 12/18/19: Disney+ is about to embark on a Journey Into Mystery.
It may take a few years, but Marvel Studios is reportedly developing a revolving live-action TV series on Disney+ called Journey Into Mystery. True to the title of the comic book which introduced Thor, Journey Into Mystery will focus on related characters. This will provide Marvel Studios to spotlight Thor family figures such as Lady Sif, the Warriors Three, the Enchantress, and finally Balder the Brave. But it’s even bigger than that. They are discussing on having Beta Ray Bill and Hercules (who was introduced in Journey Into Mystery Annual No. 1 in 1965) be the focus of certain story arcs. The tales will take place in past and present…Mikey Sutton of Geekosity: All Things Pop Culture
Breaking down ‘Journey Into Mystery,’ and what the Disney+ series would mean for the MCU
While the production will take a few years, Journey Into Mystery is sure to be one of the most high-octane and character-heavy projects Marvel will create for the streaming platform, Disney+.
From The Enchantress and Balder the Brave to Lady Sif and, of course, Hercules, the series would theoretically explore many characters intertwined with the God of Thunder’s existence, in some way, shape, or form.
The series will also span different timelines, likely allowing the show to impact the cinematic landscape in-tandem. If Marvel continues to create a cross-conversation between the small and silver screen across time, shows of this type this will open up the floor for grand mash-ups and head-to-head battles in the MCU.
With the multiverse coming front and center, temporary appearances for momentous moments are possible, as as the multiverse should allow for a degree of impermanence the previous Infinity Saga did not as easily permit. Imagine all the characters that could come to the silver screen (even for a brief moment) via a Journey into Mystery introduction.
Thor may be taking his final bow in Love and Thunder; however, that does not mean his family, and those connected to his life, cannot enter the picture after-the-fact — with origin stories and/or stories post-Thor at the forefront.
