Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Bonded Over This Unexpected Game

There has been a ton of speculation surrounding Duchess Meghan Markle and Duchess Kate Middleton’s relationship with one another. Middleton– a veteran member of the royal family since marrying Prince William in 2011, has been a graceful presence and stellar example, raising her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, with little fanfare while supporting her husband the future King of England. Markle’s entry in the royal family has come with a bit more hoopla. The former actress has brought some of Hollywood’s glitz and glamour to the often stuffy Kingston Palace. Though she’s followed many of the British Royal traditions, the Los Angeles native has also added her own spin on things which has caused more than a bit of drama.

Though the women seem friendly enough–with Middleton juggling a full household and Markle expecting her first child while trying to find her footing as a new royal, it doesn’t seem like they have much in common. It hasn’t helped that their husbands, Prince William, and Prince Harry seem to be in the midst of a brotherly feud. Luckily, over the holiday season, the ladies found an unexpected way to bond with one another.

Bonding over Scrabble

Though the royals are banned from playing Monopoly, they do enjoy a riveting game of Scrabble which is what helped Middleton and Markle connect over the holiday season. While spending Christmas and Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s Sandringham Estate the pair got super giggly over the competitive word board game.

A royal insider told The Sun, “After watching the Queen’s speech, the board games were brought out, and both women got stuck in. They were chuckling along together. You wouldn’t know there was any tension between the two. It was a wonderful day and night.”

The ladies have vastly different backgrounds which is why they aren’t besties, but they certainly aren’t the enemies that the press has made them out to be. Also, now that Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child in the Spring of 2019 –the ladies will have even more to talk about. We’re sure that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are going to be obsessed with their little cousin as well, so they’ll be spending more time together.

The women have a great appreciation for one another

Though the Duchess of Cambridge was pregnant with Prince Louis and was suffering from terrible morning sickness when Markle entered the royal family, she still took the time to show the Suits alum the ropes when she could. In fact, Markle would often head over the Middleton’s apartment to sit with her when she was feeling unwell. In turn, the mother of three also appreciated, the Duchess of Sussex stepping into the spotlight.

Markle’s entry into the Windsor’s world was a whirlwind, to say the least. A mix-raced American feminist who was outspoken and unapologetic quickly captured the world’s attention which gave Middleton time to settle down a bit and not be at the forefront of royal family gossip.
