Was it easy to meet Queen Elizabeth?
There is no doubt that meeting the Queen of England has to be daunting for anyone. It’s not as if you can walk up to her and say something typical such as “Hey, nice to meet you!” In fact, there is a very specific way to greet the queen, and rules must be followed at all times.
According to BBC News, she must first be addressed as “Your Majesty”, and “Ma’am” from then on. You must curtsy or bow, and remember not to speak until she does. So, how did Meghan handle the difficult task? Really well! Harper’s Bazaar reports that the first meeting occurred at the Royal Lodge, however, she had no idea she would have to curtsy to the queen, so she was frantically learning how to do so at the last minute.
Even so, the meeting went smoothly, and even the queen’s beloved Corgis took a liking to Meghan. The queen gifted Harry’s then-girlfriend with a pearl necklace and earrings over breakfast, and judging from how she described it, it was an experience to remember.
How did the queen feel after Megxit?
Does Meghan Markle get along with the queen? It wasn’t long after getting married that Meghan and Harry decided to step down from their duties as senior royals. Almost immediately, fans and the media began speculating exactly how members of the royal family were going to feel, and many were anxious to hear what the queen had to say about the decision.
So, how did the monarch react to the news? According to Nickiswift, she handled it with the dignity that anyone would expect. Although she was disappointed, she made it clear that all she wanted was for Meghan, Harry, and their family to be happy, and she was going to support that.
In fact, she even released a statement acknowledging the difficulties that they had as working royals and saying that “Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much loved members of my family.”
Meghan Markle and the queen’s relationship
They may now live on different continents, but that doesn’t mean that it has negatively affected their bond. The truth is that Meghan and the queen have always been close, from that first breakfast meeting till this day. Oprah Daily reports that Meghan says the queen has always been “warm, welcoming, and inviting”, and we can’t imagine anything different.
She went on to say that the queen reminds her of her own grandmother, further proving that they have a close relationship that nothing can destroy. It appears that although Harry and Meghan decided to take a step back as working royals, Meghan still looks upon the queen fondly, saying during an interview that she was glad she never researched the royals before meeting Harry. She says that “I hadn’t known a lot about the family”, and if she had researched them, she would have been “so in my head about it”.
