Is Kate Middleton The Reason Behind Meghan Markle’s Next Post Baby Appearance?
It’s been a busy few weeks for Meghan Markle. Not only did she and Prince Harry celebrate their first wedding anniversary just last week, but she also became a mother. On May 6, 2019, Markle & Prince Harry welcomed their firstborn child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, into the world. With the exception of a brief photo shoot with Prince Harry and baby Archie, Markle has opted to stay out of the spotlight. But that could all change next week.
As a new mom, adjusting to motherhood is an extremely challenging task. Sleepless nights, constant feedings, and being responsible for another human life are very arduous tasks. With the intense scrutiny that comes along with being a royal, it’s no wonder that Markle has elected to remain out of the spotlight. She deserves the time to adjust to motherhood and care for her baby without all the spectacle that accompanies her Duchess title.
In fact, it is not uncommon for royals to take some time out of the limelight following the birth of their child. Maternity leave typically lasts around three months for royals (though Markle is rumored to take even more time off) but, it is customary for royals to make a few public appearances during their leave. The Duchess of Sussex could be making her second appearance since baby Archie’s birth as early as next Saturday, June 8.
Possible public appearance
June 8 will mark the date of this year’s “Trooping the Colour” which is the formal name of the Queen’s annual birthday parade. Markle made her first Trooping the Colour appearance back in 2018 mere weeks after marrying Prince Harry. This celebration brings together almost every member of the royal family for a public appearance on the balcony of the Buckingham Palace. The tradition dates way back to 1748 and draws the highest number of royal family members in one place at the same time. In fact, the Trooping the Colour is the only time all year where a royal public appearance is guaranteed, rather than just expected.
But will Markle be attending the event this year so soon after giving birth? Despite the fact that it’ll be just over a month since baby Archie’s arrival, there is a high possibility that the Duchess of Sussex will make an appearance. This is in large part due to the precedent that Kate Middleton has set and the way she has handled the event in the past.
Kate Middleton vs. Meghan Markle
Last year, Middleton attended the Trooping the Colour mere weeks after giving birth to Prince Louis of Cambridge. Many people look to the Duchess of Cambridge to inform how they expect the Duchess of Sussex to behave, thus Markle might follow suit and also attend the celebration. Though the situations are similar, it’s important to note that they are not identical. While Markle just gave birth to her first child, Middleton attended the celebration following the birth of her third child. This might be an important factor to consider when determining the odds of Markle attending the event.
Whether Markle stays home with Archie or attends the celebration, we know she will make the best choice for herself and her baby. We hope the new mom is adjusting to parenthood well and we’re sending the new family well wishes.
