Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Biggest Critic Is Fed Up With Them: ‘Stop Whining’ and ‘Do Your Duty’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent interviews about the challenges of royal life in the spotlight was eye-opening for some who didn’t quite understand the scrutiny they face. Not everyone was won over by the candid admissions that life can be hard for them, however. One of Markle’s biggest critics, in fact, thinks that it’s time for her to “stop whining.”

Prince Harry and Markle share the devastating impact of the negative press

During their recent documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, the Sussexes admitted just how hard it can be to live with all of the negative attention.

Markle shared that she’s not okay with the negativity, explaining: “It’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom and trying to be a newlywed… and also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Prince Harry also expressed concern and worry, based on the experience his mother, Princess Diana, suffered. He explained: “Part of this job, and part of any job, like everybody, is putting on a brave face and turning a cheek to a lot of the stuff, but again, for me and again for my wife, of course there is a lot of stuff that hurts, especially when the majority of it is untrue.”

He added: “But all we need to do is focus on being real, and focus on being the people that we are, and standing up for what we believe in. I will not be bullied into playing a game that killed my mum.”

Piers Morgan wants them to stop whining

Among the Sussexes’ many critics, perhaps no one is quite so critical as Piers Morgan, who naturally had something to say about the couple’s worries about the press.

Morgan told Us Weekly: “I think Meghan Markle needs to stop whining, period.” He added: “I think she’s an actress whining too much. I say that with great respect. But the most successful members of the royal family, the queen, the queen’s mother, the most beloved always understood, you never explain, you never complain, you do your duty and everyone loves you.”

He continued: “The moment you start yapping away moaning about everything, people go, ‘Hang on, you’re living at our expensive palaces, with servants.’ So maybe get a better sense of reality.”

Morgan isn’t a Markle fan

This isn’t the first time that Morgan has been on the attack and he admits he’s not a “massive” fan of the duchess.

He explained why his opinion of her is so low, sharing: “I knew her quite well. And like a lot of people, she dropped me as soon as — she stopped looking at me the moment she met Prince Harry and she’s done that to a lot of people.”

He continued: “I just think she’s somebody who is laser focused on becoming a member of the royal family and has discovered that you can’t be a celebrity actress playing that game if you’re a member of the royal family. It’s not how it works… In Britain, the members of the whole family are almost all the civil list. Their houses get paid for by us. Their security is paid for by us, the taxpayers. And with that comes a sense of duty.”

Morgan doesn’t believe that Markle has “quite worked out what duty involves,” adding, “She’s too busy trying to be a celebrity, lecturing us all how to lead our lives and it’s just not a very clever move.”

Morgan offered up his advice for the couple, explaining, “Either understand what duty is all about or don’t be a royal. I mean, no one’s forcing Harry and Meghan to be active royals and they don’t have to be.”

In his opinion, he advised the couple to “take the advice of [Prince Harry’s] grandmother. Don’t complain and don’t explain, just do your duty. Do your job.”
