Meghan Markle Has Just Written a Children’s Book Inspired by Prince Harry and Archie
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex had been busy since moving back to her home state of California in March 2020. The duchess, who has always been passionate about writing has just announced the forthcoming release of her very first children’s book.
The book, titled The Bench, will be released this summer and was inspired by a poem the duchess wrote for Prince Harry‘s first Father’s Day in 2019.
Here’s what we know about The Bench, including its release date, what Meghan has said about it, and what the book is all about.
Meghan Markle has always loved writing and journaling
Meghan has always had a passion for writing and journaling. Before her career as an actor took off, the duchess paid her bills as a calligraphy artist. She sought out calligraphy instead of waiting tables to help her support herself between acting gigs.
From there, Meghan also used her passion for journaling to create her lifestyle website, The Tig. She used it to share her thoughts, ideas, and recipes. However, Meghan shuttered the brand when she got it engaged to Prince Harry in 2017.
In 2018, Meghan also contributed to the cookbook Together: Our Community Cookbook. She worked with a community of women who were affected by the Grenfell Tower fires in 2017. The duchess wrote the foreword for the cookbook, which features 50 recipes from the women, including Green Chilli and Avocado Dip, Coconut Chicken Curry, Eggplant Masala, Persian Chicken with Barberry Rice, Caramelized Plum Upside-Down Cake, Spiced Mint Tea.

This is what Meghan Markle said about ‘The Bench’
As she prepares to welcome her daughter, The Bench is a tribute to the special bond that Prince Harry and Archie share. “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born,” Meghan said in a statement via The Daily Mail. She added,
That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens. My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine
