The Duchess of Sussex is accustomed to a distinctly different way of life — as an American citizen and former Hollywood actress, she’s about as far from the old-fashioned customs of the monarchy as you can get.

Some fans say this is a good thing. They claim that Markle’s lack of distinguished pedigree can help shake up the stodgy old British monarchy, bringing it more up-to-date and modernizing what it means to be a working royal. It seems like for every good deed the Duchess of Sussex does, there’s an equally bad PR disaster waiting around the corner. For example, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently made headlines when they got caught taking multiple private jets to events after lecturing everyone on the importance of climate change awareness.

Elton John might not think we should be mad at them, yet some people are calling the couple hypocritical and out-of-touch with reality. There is one person who can understand just how Meghan Markle feels — that’s Queen Elizabeth, who’s had her reputation dragged on more than one occasion.

It could be time for Queen Elizabeth to step in

The queen doesn’t concern herself with petty quibbles between family members, but she does insert herself into the situation if things become serious enough. There is a good chance she’s reaching that point with all the backlash Meghan Markle is facing.

While speaking with The Sun, royal expert Phil Dampier predicted that Queen Elizabeth might try to speak with Meghan Markle about all this drama on Harry and Meghan’s visit to Balmoral.

“This might be a good opportunity to have, not an assessment of her, but a quiet chat away from the madding crowds as to how she thinks it is going,” Dampier said.

“I think in quiet moments and quiet walks up by the river the Queen might have a few words of advice for her. I’m sure there must be things where she perhaps thinks things could be done better, so I’m sure she would give her some advice, especially if she asks for it.”

If they do have a conversation about everything that’s going on, it will most likely be a kind one. Queen Elizabeth makes no secret of her fondness for Meghan Markle and no doubt she sees herself in the ambitious young crusader. The queen is a strong, opinionated woman just like the Duchess of Sussex.

However, there is always room for improvement. Maybe it will take Queen Elizabeth’s advice to set the Duchess of Sussex on a course that’s both ambitious and publicly accepted. If anyone can provide good guidance for achieving those lofty goals, it’s the queen!
