Meghan Markle Desperately Wants People to Understand Who She Is, Report Says
Since marrying Prince Harry in May 2018, things haven’t exactly been perfect for Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. By all accounts, Meghan seems like a lovely and warm woman, dedicated to helping women and the less fortunate from all walks of life. Unfortunately, the British press and the public simply was unable to accept a mixed-race American woman into the royal family.
From horrible nicknames like “Duchess Difficult” and “Hurricane Meghan” to the constant tabloid rumors and media scrutiny, the duchess and Prince Harry decided enough was enough. At the top of 2020, the couple announced Megxit. They decided to leave the royal family in favor of a quieter and more private life in Meghan’s hometown of Los Angeles, California.
Of course, this decision has still drawn ire from haters. However, as the world begins to open up again following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and the Sussexes are able to get back to work, the duchess desperately hopes people will get to know who she really is.
Meghan Markle kept a secret diary about her time in the British royal family
Nothing could have prepared the Duchess of Sussex for what her life became as a member of the British royal family. She had known Prince Harry for just over a year before they got engaged and she was thrown into the spotlight.
“As an actress, Meghan expects perfection,” royal expert Duncan Larcombe, told The Sun. “But when you’re in the royal family, you have to learn that it’s not about you, it’s about what you represent.”
Unfortunately, due to the horrible racist and sexist things that were spewed at her, the duchess never got a real chance to adjust to her royal life. Instead, she reportedly found solace in keeping a secret diary about her experiences.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Meghan kept a secret diary during her time as a senior working royal. “She is a good writer with a nice turn of phrase,” royal expert Andrew Morton explained. Thus far, the Sussexes’ spokesperson has declined to comment on the duchess’ alleged diary.
Meghan Markle is so much happier in LA
Ultimately when the Sussexes decided that remaining within the royal family was no longer a viable option, it was Meghan who convinced her husband to move their family to LA.
With her mom, Doria Ragland, and an expansive network of friends, it was the best place for the pair to launch their new careers. “They’ve been looking forward to [moving], and they’re very content and happy to finally be all settled in,” an insider told US Weekly. “And of course, Meghan feels more at home too and she’s really starting to feel like herself again.”
Though the pandemic has put a wrench in their plans to launch their new Archewell brand, the Sussexes have celebrated Archie’s first birthday, Mother’s Day, and they’ve connected with the royal family.
Meghan Markle hopes ‘Finding Freedom’ will get people to understand her perspective
On August 11, journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand will debut their book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family. For the book, the royal experts were given unprecedented access to the Sussexes.
Though the royals haven’t exactly endorsed the book, Meghan, in particular, is very much looking forward to its release. “If Meghan had it her way, the book would be released tomorrow instead of three months from now,” a source told Daily Mail. “She said the book will finally set the record straight and show the world why they were left with no other choice than to leave the royal life. Meghan seems to think that readers will finally understand the monumental anguish and turmoil she had to endure with a stiff upper lip. Meghan said people need to see her vulnerable side, something the book does in great detail.”
We don’t think hateful people will change their minds about the duchess, but hopefully, Meghan and Prince Harry will be able to defend themselves moving forward.
