Meghan Markle Does Not Want the Queen’s Doctors to Deliver Her Baby Like They Did for Kate Middleton

With the arrival of Baby Sussex coming in to the home stretch, many royal fans are curious about Meghan Markle’s birth plan and whether or not she will follow the tradition of giving birth in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital. While few details are known about Markle’s birth plan, a new rumor points to Markle having no interest in having the Queen’s doctors deliver her baby.

Markle reportedly isn’t keen on using the Queen’s doctors

According to a new report, Markle “delivered an astonishing snub” when she said she didn’t want the Queen’s doctors to handle the birth of her first child with Prince Harry.

A source told The Daily Mail: “Meghan said she doesn’t want the men in suits. She was adamant that she wanted her own people. It did leave a few of us a little baffled.”

Another insider is quoted as saying: “It is slightly surprising. These people [the Queen’s doctors] are the best of the best and when it comes down to it, their role would actually be very limited in the birth itself, assuming all goes to plan.”

Does Markle have something against these doctors?

While the complete details of why Markle would want to pass on using the Royal Household gynecologists, Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston (a specialist in high-risk births), is not known, it’s reported that she has appointed a female doctor to lead her delivery team.

Farthing and Thorpe-Beeston attended the arrival of all three of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children.

A source shared that, of course, Markle and Prince Harry’s birth plan is very personal, explaining: “Above all, this is her birth, her baby, and she must do whatever feels right for her. How could anyone judge her for that?”

The Daily Mail does report, however, that even if Markle has her own team in place for the baby’s delivery, “in keeping with protocol, the Queen’s doctors cannot be excluded completely.”

The cost of having her own delivery team

While it’s Markle’s choice to have her own delivery team, many critics note that the Queen’s physicians don’t charge a fee, so there will be a cost for Prince Harry and Markle to employ a new team of specialists, estimated to be in the tens of thousands.

That additional cost will no doubt have some people up in arms, though one source told the Daily Mail that the Queen’s doctors are not offended in the least, noting: “No one has thought anything of it because it really is ever so personal.”

Where will Meghan Markle give birth?

Markle also is rumored to be breaking with the long-standing tradition of giving birth in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital, with reports that she and Prince Harry will likely welcome Baby Sussex in a hospital closer to their Frogmore Cottage home.

It’s also believed that the couple will not pose for a photo with their new arrival as other royals have done, with a source explaining that Markle doesn’t want have photos taken of their newborn “just because people think she should.”

The source continued: “It is impossible to compare to the Duchess of Cambridge because she is married to the future King. While the focus is very much on Harry and Meghan at the moment, this is not going to last — particularly as the Cambridge children grow up and become the core Royal family.”
