Meghan Markle Is Completely ‘Embarrassed’ by Jessica Mulroney’s White Privilege Scandal, Source Reveals
Well before she married Prince Harry, Meghan, Duchess of Cambridge had a close circle of friends. One of her closest friends, Jessica Mulroney is a stylist, former contributor to Good Morning America, and a TV Host. The duchess and Mulroney became very close many years ago following Meghan’s relocation to Toronto to shoot the drama series, Suits.
Since then the ladies have been two peas in a pod. Mulroney served as Meghan’s unofficial wedding planner, she styled the duchess for several royal tours and during her final royal engagements. Also, they’ve vacationed together and remained close confidants. Now, it looks like their friendship might be coming to an end.
Amid the Black Lives Matter movement and Black people calling out others for their racism and white privilege, Mulroney was exposed for threatening Black Canadian influencer Sasha Exeter and using her privilege for very problematic behavior. Now, Meghan, a woman of color is being dragged into the nonsense and she’s not happy about it.
Meghan Markle thinks the Black Lives Matter Movement is critical
In the past, Meghan has spoken out against racism and she’s currently speaking for the Black Lives Matter movement and working with pivotal figures in the background. The duchess recently addressed the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of the police.
“I know you know that Black Lives Matter,” she said during a commencement speech for her alma mater Immaculate Heart High School. “I am already excited for what you are going to do in the world. You are ready, we need you and you are prepared,” Meghan said. “I’m so proud to call each of you a fellow alumni. I am cheering you on, all along the way. I am exceptionally proud of you.”
She and Prince Harry also made a statement through the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. “We all have the power to effect positive change,” they wrote. ” It is time to speak up and speak out. Time to have uncomfortable conversations with ourselves and with others. Time to educate ourselves and unlearn. Time to come together and build a better future as one. #TeamQCT.”
Meghan Markle’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney was just involved in a white privilege scandal
Unfortunately just as Meghan was using her non-royal platform to speak out, Mulroney got involved in a major white privilege scandal. Canadian lifestyle blogger Exeter used her Instagram account for a generic call-to-action to her white peers who had remained silent amid the murders and global unrest. Though Exeter did not name names, it apparently hit a nerve with Mulroney.
What happened next was a case study in white privilege. “What happened next was a series of very problematic behavior and antics that ultimately resulted in [Mulroney] sending me a threat in writing last Wednesday,” Exeter said in a video. She posted the evidence of Mulroney threatening her livelihood and a lawsuit.
After Exeter went public with Mulroney’s threats the stylist tried to apologize saying, “As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre,” she wrote. “It was deeply educational. I learned a lot from that.” However, it was too little and too late. Mulroney’s CTV series, I Do Redo, has been cancelled and she’s been fired from Good Morning America.
Meghan Markle is completely embarrassed by Jessica Mulroney
The Duchess of Sussex who is trying to rebuild her life following Megxit and the racism she endured in the U.K. is deeply embarrassed by Mulroney. “Meghan is absolutely mortified that she’s been dragged into this complete mess,” an insider told Daily Mail. “She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking. “
It looks like Meghan is now reassessing her friendship with Mulroney. “Meghan said friends reflect friends and because of what’s at stake she can no longer be associated with Jessica, at least not in public. She has to do what she has to do in order to preserve her dignity and her own reputation,” the source added.
