Revealed: These Are Meghan Markle’s Favorite NYC Hot Spots

Meghan Markle might be a native Los Angeleno and a member of the British Royal Family –but it’s New York City that has stolen her heart. Since the Duchess of Sussex adores the Big Apple so much, it makes sense that she chose NYC as the backdrop for her baby shower in Feb. 2019. The mother-to-be made a surprise visit to New York for a secret five-day girls trip where she had some much-needed rest and relaxation with her girlfriends. She also attended a lush baby shower thrown by her bestie, stylist Jessica Mulroney. On her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig –Markle talked about her love for the concrete jungle. She wrote,

The memories of filming the pilot for Suits, the fast frenetic energy only lulled by my morning jog through Central Park, the quintessential Manhattan bravado, the elderly ladies who lunch at Bergdorfs (draped in diamonds, nursing their martinis, watching the day go by against the backdrop of Kelly Wearstler papered walls) – these are a few of the reasons I love New York But it’s the food, the mother f-ing fantastic, crave-worthy food, that keeps me wrapped around its little finger.

Meghan Markle’s favorite hotels

Even before she became the Duchess of Sussex –privacy and plush arrangements were essential to Markle. Therefore, when she goes to NYC some of her favorite hotels are the Upper East Side’s Surrey Hotel and The Mark Hotel. During her recent visit, Markle went to the Surrey Hotel’s Café Boulud for lunch with her former co-star and good friend –Abigal Spencer. The duchess‘ baby shower was held at the penthouse in The Mark Hotel which costs upwards of $75,000 per night.

The Duchess of Sussex’s favorite restaurants

Markle is a massive foodie, and of course, NYC has her covered. On The Tig –she listed the restaurants she absolutely must hit up when in town “whether I have 5 days in the city or just 32 hours.” Markle adores Rubirosa, the pizza spot on Mulberry Street, Hinata for ramen, and of course Chef Jean George Vongerichten’s French eatery which overlooks Central Park. The duchess also loves a dirty martini from Fedora and on a date night, she gravitates towards Joseph Leonard in the West Village. The Polo Bar is Markle’s choice for group dinners.

The perfect place for high tea

High tea is quite the experience and now that she’s married to a Brit –Markle certainly has gotten used to the tradition. For the perfect tea in NYC, the duchess headed to Ladurée in Soho where she chatted over tea and macarons with her best friend, Jessica Mulroney.

Markle’s favorite museum

There are numerous museums in New York City, but Markle gravitates towards The Met Breuer –a museum of modern and contemporary art. During her recent visit, Markle went to check out Julio Le Parc’s 1959 exhibition.
