Things Meghan Markle Hasn’t Changed About Her Life Since Joining the Royal Family

Many aspects of Meghan Markle’s life have changed since she became part of the British royal family. She’s been called out for breaching protocol for closing a car door behind her (gasp!), something she’s not supposed to do as a member of the royal family. But what hasn’t changed about Markle’s life? We explore aspects of Markle’s life that have remained the same ahead.

What’s changed about Meghan Markle’s life since joining the royal family

Before we break down what hasn’t changed for Markle, we’re going over what has changed. The first and most obvious part of Markle’s life that’s changed is that she’s now a duchess instead of an actress.

Second, her address has changed. Markle, a California native, most recently lived in the Canadian city of Toronto before selling her home there and moving to London to live with her husband, Prince Harry.

Now, let’s break down what hasn’t changed in Markle’s life since she became a royal.

Markle’s healthy lifestyle hasn’t changed

Markle’s known for her healthy eating habits regular fitness routine. A devoted yogi, Markle now has a studio in her home, Frogmore Cottage, thanks to recent renovations. When the actress- turned-duchess began dating Prince Harry, her healthy lifestyle inspired him to get healthier.

“We all ribbed him a bit because he suddenly got super healthy. It was obviously dating Meghan that kicked off his health drive,” one of Prince Harry’s friends told author Katie Nicholl in her book, Harry: Life, Loss, and Love.

Moving to another continent didn’t interfere with Markle’s healthy eating habits. Upon moving into Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace with Prince Harry, Markle reportedly threw away any and all processed food.

Her fitness routine didn’t take a hit either. Running around Kensington Palace used to be one of Markle’s favorite ways to exercise when she and Prince Harry lived in Nottingham Cottage.

Her phone number is still the same

That’s right, Markle’s phone number remains the same as it did before she became a duchess.

A close friend of Markle’s spoke to People about the drama surrounding her father, Thomas Markle, not attending her wedding last May. It’s in those comments that we learned Markle’s had the same phone number for years.

“He knows how to get in touch with her. Her telephone number hasn’t changed,” Markle’s close friend told the publication.

Markle’s continued her philanthropic efforts

Philanthropy is something very close to Markle’s heart. In fact, she and Prince Harry first bonded over their passion for giving back on their first date.

“[…] it was really one of the first things we connected on, it was one of the first things we started talking about when we met was just the different things that we wanted to do in the world and how passionate we were about seeing change,” Markle explained to the BBC during her and Prince Harry’s first sit-down interview after their engagement announcement.

During her time playing Rachel Zane on the USA TV series, Suits, she made sure leftover food from craft services was donated to a local soup kitchen she volunteered at in Toronto.

Markle became an advocate for UN Women, traveling to Rwanda for the organization. She also gave on speech on International Women’s Day.

She’s stayed true to her personal style

Even though she’s got a bigger budget for her wardrobe now that she’s the Duchess of Sussex, Markle’s personal style has remained the same. She even styles herself for events she attends as a working royal.

In 2014, she told clothing retailer, The Outnet, that her style had “become a bit more polished” since being on Suits where she got to wear clothes by designers such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Prabal Gurung.

But her overall aesthetic has remained the same. She’ll still wear a striped shirt, aviator sunglasses, or jeans just with more of an elevated edge fit for a duchess.
