Meghan Markle Honored Prince Harry and Baby Archie in a Sweet Way at the U.S. Open

Meghan Markle might have been miles away from her family on Sept. 7 when she attended the U.S. Open in New York City, but she still found a way to keep them close.

Photos from the event show the duchess wearing a necklace with “H” and “A” charms in honor of Prince Harry and baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Aww!

More on Markle’s latest trip

Markle jetted off to New York on Sept. 6 without her family, marking the first time she’s traveled abroad since giving birth to baby Archie back in May.

She attended the U.S. Open to support her BFF Serena Williams, who ultimately lost to Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu.

For the event, Markle wore a denim shirt, complimented with a grey jacket. She accessorized with a gold necklace featuring the letters “H” and “A.” According to The Daily Mail, the necklace, which was designed by the jewelry brand Mini Mini, retails for just over $150.

It’s not the first time Markle has done such a thing

Back in July, the duchess made a sweet nod to her son at Wimbledon. On the fourth day of the event, Markle wore a blazer, jeans, and a gold necklace, which featured an “A” for Archie.

“I was so overwhelmed to see Meghan wearing it. I’m still in shock!” jeweler Emma Swann told People on July 8. “She looked amazing and I love her relaxed sense of style. Women look at her style and they can really relate to her — that’s refreshing.”

The jeweler, who runs the company Verse, told the publication that she’s a longtime fan of Markle. But, she said, she only recently got a chance to design jewelry for the royal after a friend who works closely with Markle offered to pass along some items.

Swann added that she sent over an “H” and “M” charm that had yet to be worn at the time. But it looks like Markle is finally giving them a spin.

Markle reportedly had a blast in NYC

In addition to hitting the U.S. Open, Markle also had the chance to relax and do some yoga. According to People, she and a friend visited Modo Yoga, which offers yoga classes in a heated room.

“There were lots of sweet, knowing smiles,” a source told the publication.

Markle is a yoga enthusiast (if that’s even a thing) and has often been seen heading to classes with her yoga mat. It’s a practice that runs in the family, as her mother, Doria Ragland, teaches yoga in Los Angeles.

“She has been going to Modo Yoga for many years and tries to do so whenever she is in New York,” the source added. “It was the perfect remedy for jet lag.”

According to reports, it was Markle’s first time back in New York City since her baby shower, which experienced widespread criticism over its hefty price tag.

Spotlight on: Smart Works We are proud to be supporting a very special initiative this autumn for @SmartWorksCharity! After quiet visits to Smartworks over the last year, The Duchess was moved by the impactful work being done by this non profit organisation that helps women into the workforce, equipping them with both the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready. Throughout her visits she noticed that while the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colours which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily “suit” the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview. As a result, launching this autumn, The Duchess will be supporting a collective to help equip the women of Smart Works with the key workwear essentials they need as they enter into the workplace. This initiative is supported by four generous brands who share the vision to empower the women of Smart Works to look and feel as they bravely venture in to what can often be a daunting environment for those who have been out of the job market. The brands have come together to work towards this united force for good, “[reframing] the idea of charity as community,” as The Duchess writes in a piece for this month’s British Vogue. They will follow the 1:1 model where an item from the collection purchased is an item shared with a woman of Smart Works because “not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story; it reminds us we are in it together.” For more information on how you can be part of another woman’s success story visit @smartworkscharity. Special thanks to: @JohnLewisandPartners, @MarksandSpencer, @MishaNonoo, @InsideJigsaw for supporting this very special organisation.
