Meghan Markle Impressed Prince Harry in a Way That Reminded Him of Princess Diana, Expert Says
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have proven that they are a strong couple who operate with a united front. While they might have left the royal family to escape the spotlight, their fans are still interested in their love story, even if the Sussexes are currently trying to live a more normal life.
When Prince Harry met Meghan, ‘the stars were aligned’
Though Prince Harry and Meghan were set up by a mutual friend on a blind date, the two quickly fell for each other.
Meghan explained in an interview with the BBC after they were engaged in 2017, “We met for a drink and then I think very quickly into that we said, ‘Well what are we doing tomorrow? We should meet again.’”
“The fact that I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly was sort of confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned, everything was just perfect,” Prince Harry remarked during that same interview.
He continued, “It was this beautiful woman just sort of literally tripped and fell into my life, I fell into her life. The fact that she — I know the fact that she will be unbelievably good at the job part of it as well is obviously a huge relief to me because she will be able to deal with everything else that comes with it. We’re a fantastic team. We know we are. And we hope to, over time, try and have as much impact for the things that we care about as much as possible.”
Prince Harry was impressed with Meghan’s charity work
It’s believed that Meghan’s charity work was part of the former actress’ appeal, with one royal expert shedding some light on how Prince Harry would have been impressed with that.
In the 2019 Channel 5 documentary Meghan Markle: Movies, Marriage and Motherhood, royal expert Neev Spencer explained, “We all know that charity is a huge, huge thing for Prince Harry.”
Spencer noted, “It is something that is really close to his heart because of how important it was to his late mother Diana. If you wanted to impress him, doing a lot of charity work would probably go down really well.”
Meghan had first shown her propensity for addressing important issues when she wrote a letter to First Lady Hillary Clinton about an advertisement that depicted women as the only ones who washed dishes. Her action prompted a response — and the ad was changed.
Meghan went on to work with the United Nations and as a global ambassador for World Vision Canada.
The two bonded over their mutual connection
Given Prince Harry’s desire to make the world a better place, it’s not surprising that they had a strong connection about their interests in philanthropic endeavors.
“Both of us have passions for wanting to make change, change for good,” Prince Harry explained during their engagement interview. “With lots of young people running around the Commonwealth, that’s where we are going to spend most of our time hopefully.”
Meghan added, “It was really one of the first things we connected on. It was one of the first things we started talking about when we met was just the different things we wanted to do in the world and how passionate we were about seeing change. I think that was what got date two in the books probably.”
