Meghan Markle Is Living An ‘Isolated Existence’ Since the Birth of Baby Archie

Any veteran mother knows that the so-called “fourth trimester” – those couple of months right after the baby is born – can feel especially difficult. And even someone like Meghan Markle isn’t immune to feelings of isolation, depression, and loneliness, even if she is surrounded by her staff and the few trusted loved ones she allows to get close.

Nothing can prepare someone for becoming a mother. The sleepless nights alone are enough to drive the most competent mother to feel like she’s not doing a great job. Because parenting is hard, especially in those beginning stages when you have to learn everything quickly.

Meghan Markle is unique because she has the added strain of fighting against intrusive photographers and nosy royal fans who would do just about anything to snap a photo of her and her baby. It may seem like she’s always part of a huge entourage. But sometimes, that’s the loneliest place to be.

Meghan Markle could learn some tips from Kate Middleton

It’s times like these that royal insiders point out what a shame it is that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to move away from Kensington Palace. If they were still close to the Cambridges, then Meghan Markle would be able to lean on her husband’s sister-in-law for parenting advice. If anyone knows about the challenges of raising royal kids in the spotlight, it’s Kate Middleton.

Sure, there are rumors of a feud. But based on their body language at recent events, it’s looking more and more like these two women aren’t truly fighting — they’re just not naturally best friends. It’s worth noting that the shared experience of parenthood is the perfect excuse to bond.

“Babies are a great leveler,” royal commentator Victoria Arbiter explained. “The minute you’re bonding over your stories and sleepless nights, suddenly all the stuff that mattered before doesn’t matter anymore.”

Kate Middleton admitted that motherhood can be lonely sometimes

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been fighting to normalize mental health concerns and have both admitted to struggling with some difficult emotions. Kate Middleton even said that motherhood hasn’t always been simple for her — even though she makes it look easy.

She said motherhood can be “lonely at times, and you do feel quite isolated. But so many other mothers are going through exactly what you are going through.”

And the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have tucked themselves away at Frogmore Cottage, physically distanced from their family and friends? That’s just further proof that they have less support than ever.

The Duchess of Sussex struggles with her newfound fame

Yes, Meghan Markle was in a unique position as a former actress to be at least partially equipped to deal with fame. However, the intensity of public interest in the royal family is like nothing she ever experienced in Hollywood.

“Meghan has struggled with the intensity of the spotlight,” a source told People magazine. “Although she is a former actress, this is on a different level.”

Ultimately, parenthood will get both easier and harder for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as baby Archie grows. But in these long first few months, Markle would be wise to reach out and ask for help when she needs it, leaning on other royal moms (like Kate Middleton) who have been through the exact same thing.
