Meghan Markle Is No Longer Listed As ‘Her Royal Highness’ On Official Charity Websites

Several charities in the UK are no longer referring to Meghan Markle as “Her Royal Highness.” The former Suits star and her husband, Prince Harry, will no longer use their HRH titles as part of their decision to step down as acting royals. The couple’s exit will become official on March 31, yet some charitable foundations are already taking action, offering a look at what’s to come.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry give up royal titles

At the beginning of the year, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Harry announced their decision to step away from the spotlight. Following the shocking announcement, the couple negotiated their exit with Queen Elizabeth and other senior members of the royal family.

As part of their plan to step down, Meghan and Harry will be prohibited from using their royal titles for as long as they remain inactive. They are not losing their titles, but they will not be able to use them in public moving forward.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are also seeking to become financially independent from the crown and will be spending a good chunk of their time in North America. Potential landing spots include Canada, Los Angeles, and New York City.

The Sussexes are currently in self-isolation in Canada with their son, Archie Harrison. The pair flew to Vancouver Island shortly after completing their final round of public appearances in the UK.

The Duchess of Sussex loses ‘Her Royal Highness’ title

Over the past two years, Meghan has worked with quite a few charitable organizations around the world. This includes collaborating with Smart Works and an animal rights charity called Mayhew.

According to Us Magazine, both of these organizations have stopped referring to Meghan as “Our Royal Patron HRH The Duchess of Sussex” on their websites. Instead, the companies are now calling her the Duchess of Sussex.

Similar changes have been made on social media. In recent photos of Meghan, the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) tagged her as “our Patron, The Duchess of Sussex.” The organization previously used Meghan’s HRH titles when captioning photos of her.

Although these charities are no longer using Meghan Markle’s royal titles, she is still working with them as their patron. That could change, of course, in the coming years, depending on what happens with Meghan and Harry.

The royal family is scheduled to re-examine Meghan and Harry’s exit in 12 months.

Was this Prince Harry’s final straw?

Meghan and Harry have been fairly vague about the reasons behind their decision to step down as active members of the royal family. From battling with the British tabloids to feuding with other royals, the couple experienced plenty of drama over the past two years.

Although the two are looking to start fresh in Canada, an inside source told Us Magazine that Prince Harry “snapped” when he realized that Meghan Markle would never get the support she needed.

“When it became clear Meghan was never going to get a fair shake, Harry snapped,” the insider shared. “He’s adamant that it was his call to move to Canada.”

The source added that Harry’s main goal is to “shield his son” from all the negativity that comes with being in the royal spotlight. To that end, Harry believes raising Archie Harrison in North America will give him a more normal upbringing.

Harry and Meghan have not commented on the reports surrounding their decision to leave the monarchy.

Royal photographer shares rare photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

While we wait to hear more on Megxit, a royal photographer just released several behind-the-scenes photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

According to Insider, Samir Hussein joined the Sussexes during their tour of New Zealand and snapped some rare photos of the couple. This includes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle displaying their competitive spirits while playing wellie wanging.

“As unusual sports go for royals to take part in, wellie wanging has to be right up there,” Hussein stated. “This was taken on the penultimate day of Harry and Meghan’s tour of New Zealand, having already visited Australia, Tonga, and Fiji on the same visit.”

Hussein also got the unique opportunity to take a photo of Harry and Meghan eating food, something that is a bit of a rarity within the ranks of the royal family.

In the photo, Harry and Meghan are shown eating some samosa during a gathering in Cape Town. The couple were tasting some home-cooked staples from the region and were clearly enjoying their time together.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently lying low in Canada and are self-isolating as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
