Meghan Markle is Not Having Her Baby in the Hospital the Royal Family Has for Decades. Here’s Why
Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry have never been a couple to do things like others. From the start of their whirlwind romance, it was clear that these two would be marching to the beat of their own drum.
Markle’s pregnancy is no different. She’s decided not to use the hospital where the royal family has given birth for the past four decades.
Where do the royals typically give birth?
Since 1977, the British royal family has chosen the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London to have their children. Harry, himself, was born at St. Mary’s in 1984. His brother, Prince William, continued the tradition with his wife who gave birth to George, Charlotte, and Louis at St. Mary’s as well.
Where will Markle give birth to her child?
According to The Sun, Markle has decided to use a hospital closer to her new home on the Windsor property.
“The child will not be born at the Lindo,” a source told the outlet.
“She and Harry have decided that rather than go somewhere as public as the Lindo, they will allow Meghan to recover somewhere more private,” the source continued.
When is Markle’s baby due?
Kensington Palace first announced the newest Sussex in Oct. of 2018 on Twitter.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the tweet read.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
The baby is set to be born later this month or early May.
Is baby Sussex a girl or boy?
Most pregnant women can find out the sex of their babies when they are between 16 and 20 weeks along, so if Markle and Harry wanted to know the sex of their baby, they would certainly know by now.
In January, Markle said that she wanted to keep the baby’s gender a surprise while on a trip to Birkenhead.
According to reports from Elle, the royal couple has since found out the sex of their baby, but want to keep it from the public until the baby is born.
Sources have said that Markle told her friends at her baby shower in New York City that she was having a boy, but the decorations at the shower were pink, leading people to believe that the baby might be a girl.
Do royals usually reveal their baby’s genders?
Markle isn’t breaking from royal tradition in keeping the baby’s sex to herself. Historically, royal moms have done the same. Kate Middleton and William did not reveal the sex of any of their three children before they were born, either.
Where will the baby live?
Since the royal split, Markle and Harry have decided that they will move to Frogmore Cottage which is on the Windsor property. This will mean that the couple will be closer to The Queen and further away from William and Middleton. The home is currently being
