Meghan Markle Is Not A “Yes Person”

From her decision to keep her birth plan private to her choice to speak out about her views of feminism and education —Meghan Markle has decided to carve a path out in the British Royal Family that fits with her passions and her personality. Unfortunately, the British press has not made things easy for the Duchess of Sussex. From the trolling to the tabloids rumors –it looks like Markle can’t catch a break no matter how hard she tries.

It seems like a lot of factors are contributing to the reason why Markle can’t catch a break. From her American background to her mixed-race heritage and work ethic– people can’t seem to get over how different the duchess is. However, the primary reason the duchess is getting so much backlash is that she’s not a “yes person.”

Meghan Markle is not a “yes person.”

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell is convinced that the reason why the press is railing against Meghan Markle and pitting her against Duchess Kate Middleton is because the former actress walks to the beat of her own drum. Burrell told Us Weekly, “I have no doubt that Meghan is not a ‘yes’ person. [She] speaks her mind and voices her opinions as an American woman of today would and should.”

As far as an alleged feud between Markle and Middleton, Burrell is convinced there’s no truth to that either. He told Us Weekly, “They are different women with different roles from different cultures. Kate knows that Meghan is no threat to her, and Meghan is mature enough to realize that her role is vastly different to Kate’s.”

Meghan Markle is also being accused of being “disturbingly self-confident”

Lady Colin Campbell –who was close friends with the late Princess Diana says that she sees many parallels between Markle and the Princess of Wales. She told the Independent, “Meghan is much better educated and more academic. Meghan is almost disturbingly self-confident… We must hope she realizes that her vision is not the only vision.”

Though Lady Campbell hopes Markle will loosen the reigns of control, she also thinks that the Duchess of Sussex’s confidence will help her steer clear of some of the pitfalls that Princess Diana fell in to. Since Markle isn’t insecure, she won’t take any of the negative press and rumors surrounding her to heart which will make for a much more positive and peaceful existence in the public eye.

Does Meghan Markle think royal life is difficult?

Though Markle is still trying to adjust in her new life, royal biographer Penny Junor says that the duchess is finding royal life a bit difficult. Junor told The Sun, “Clearly there is something going on here. I think life must be very difficult for Meghan. She’s had a completely different life, she didn’t really know the British royal family, how it operated and what her life would be like. She is clearly used to being her own woman, operating at her own hours and behaving the way she needs to, to get on in a very, very competitive world.”
