Meghan Markle’s Dress in Her Pregnancy Photo Has a Special Connection to a Royal Family Member

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, are growing their family. The couple announced on Feb. 14 that they’re expecting a second child. Their pregnancy announcement was paired with a black-and-white photo that showed the couple, as well as Meghan’s baby bump, and as with many things the Duchess wears in public outings, her dress has a special meaning.

When is Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby due?

The Valentine’s Day announcement came just days after Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, gave birth to her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank.

We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” a representative for Meghan and Harry said, per People.

No due date was given, but based on Meghan’s bump and the fact that it’s only February, the baby will likely be born sometime in 2021.

How did Meghan Markle hide her pregnancy?

Given the pregnancy photo, it seems as if Meghan could be in her second trimester. Regardless of how far along the pregnancy is, the Duchess has done a good job of hiding her bump for some time now.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has allowed for her to schedule only online appearances, and concealing a pregnant belly is easy to do on camera. You simply keep the lower half of your body out of frame.

Meghan Markle’s pregnancy photo dress has a special connection to Archie

When Meghan and Harry were ready to share their news, they recruited Misan Harriman to conduct the photo shoot. The photographer is a good friend of Meghan’s (he had a hand in her meeting Harry in the first place), and he made history as the first Black photographer to shoot the September cover of British Vogue. He didn’t use any fancy cameras on this shoot, however. This one was all done remotely and taken on an iPad.

As for her dress, it has a special story as well. The white sleeveless dress Meghan is wearing in the photo is a Carolina Herrera piece designed for her when she was pregnant with Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, according to People. While Archie (who will be 2 in May) isn’t in the photo, his parents made sure he was still represented.

Harriman told Vogue that taking this photo was simple because Harry and Meghan work so well together. He said:

“With the tree of life behind them and the garden representing fertility, life and moving forward, they didn’t need any direction, because they are, and always have been, waltzing through life together as absolute soulmates. When you see people who have the connection that they have, it’s like reading the pages of a book.”

And we’re loving this book! Congratulations to the happy family.
