Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Raise Baby Sussex With A Fluid Approach To Gender?

When it comes to people in the British Royal Family, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are super progressive. Though they’ve chosen to adhere to many royal traditions –they’ve also unapologetically broken protocol on more than one occasion. Markle recently had a lavish baby shower thrown in New York City by her best friends, and the couple has decided to part ways with Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton to establish their own separate royal offices.

Now that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to welcome their first child into the world in late April or early May 2019 –they’ve decided to take a progressive approach to parenting.

Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry raise Baby Sussex to be gender fluid?

According to Page Six, Markle told her friends at her baby shower that she and the prince are expecting a baby boy. Though we don’t know how true that is since royals don’t typically find out their baby’s sex –we do know that the duchess is planning to raise her little one with a fluid approach to gender.

An insider told Vanity Fair, “Meghan has been talking to some of her friends about the birth and how she and Harry plan to raise their baby. Her exact word was fluid. She said they plan to raise their child with a fluid approach to gender and they won’t be imposing any stereotypes.”

What does gender fluid mean?

Like Markle and Prince Harry –actress Kate Hudson is also taking the gender fluid approach to raising her newborn daughter, Rani Rose. The Almost Famous actress explained her approach to being gender fluid by saying, she wants to “feel free to be exactly who they want to be. She explained that she is using the “genderless approach to refocus the conversation in a direction that could exist outside of the female stereotype. It just felt a little antiquated to me. Not all girls want to be a princess, some want to be a king.”

Inside Baby Sussex’s gender-neutral nursery

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have designed Baby Sussex’s nursery in their new home at Frogmore House from scratch. Markle created a mood board to capture the tone of the nursery which is being decorated by Vicky Charles, the design director of Soho Farmhouse.

According to royal insider Katie Nicholl –the nursery will be painted with eco-friendly vegan paint that is eucalyptus-infused. She explained, “Don’t expect to see any baby pink or baby blue. Apparently, it’s going to be a monochrome palette—whites and grays, I’m told, will be the color theme for baby Sussex’s nursery.” Additionally, the nursey has been outfitted with, “top-of-the-line cameras, security windows, and a state-of-the-art stereo system.”
