Despite being almost eight months pregnant, Meghan Markle is keeping a busy schedule. She and Prince Harry have just returned from a trip to Morocco to boost ties between the UK and the North African nation. The Queen herself is impressed with Markle’s stamina this late in her pregnancy.

“The Queen is amazed by the duchess’s energy and stamina given that she is so heavily pregnant,” a source told Vanity Fair. “For the Queen and her generation, you generally hid your bump and put your feet up in this stage of pregnancy, but Meghan hasn’t stopped.”

Between celebrating Markle’s pregnancy and keeping up with all the duties of being a duchess, Markle and Harry haven’t had much downtime.

Meghan and Harry have a date night

But on Saturday night Markle and Harry got to enjoy a night out at the theater. They saw Tina: The Musical in the West End.

The cast and crew of the show were ecstatic to welcome the royals.

“We were thrilled and honoured to welcome The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to #TinaTheMusical on Saturday for a private visit,” the show wrote on its official Instagram.

Commenters on the post asked if the couple got up and danced during the encore. Another Instagram user wrote “Bet that was why it was late starting.”

‘Tina: The Musical’

The show the royals chose to see on their date night is a jukebox musical about Tina Turner. The story follows Turner from the time she was a young girl in Tennessee, through her infamous relationship with Ike Turner, and the growth of her career during the 40s. The musical was written by Katori Halll, Frank Ketelaar, and Kees Pins, and is directed by Phyllida Lloyd.

The West End production first began performing at the Aldwych Theatre in 2018. The original cast included Adrienne Warren as Tina Turner and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith played Ike.

What the theater means to Meghan and Harry

As a former actress, the theater is a place of importance to Markle. Since becoming a duchess, The National Theater was named one of her royal patronages. Her other patronages focus on the arts, women’s rights, animal welfare, and education. It’s no surprise, then, that when the couple has a free date night, it’s a good bet that they can be seen supporting some form of the arts.

According to E! News, the couple attended a Cirque du Soleil show (Totem) back in January. The outing was connected with one of Harry’s charities. Late last year, the couple attended the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium, where Markle received a nod from Beyoncé and Jay-Z when the couple took home a BRIT Award after winning the International Group award.  And, of course, last year the couple was spotted attending the most famous hip-hop musical around, Hamilton.
