Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Made Sure Archie’s Best Friends Celebrated His First Birthday With Him

When Meghan, Duchess of Sussex gave birth to Archie on May 6, 2019, the world was all abuzz. We watched the duchess’ baby bump grow larger for months while Prince Harry spoke excitedly about becoming a dad for the first time. However, aside from his birth photos, some pictures from his Christening, and an appearance in South Africa, we’ve seen very little of Archie.

When the Sussexes decided they would be leaving the British royal family to start a more peaceful life on their own in Los Angeles, many royal fans were disappointed that we would hardly see the adorable tot ever again. Thankfully, in celebration of their little one’s first birthday, the Sussexes decided to share a video or Archie with us.

Apparently, despite the global pandemic, Archie’s first birthday was a major success, the Sussexes even made sure his best friends were in attendance.

Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s LA life with Archie

Things have certainly been challenging for everyone amid the coronavirus pandemic and quarantining. Though they’ve felt isolated in LA, the Sussexes are trying to make the most of their time as a family.

The couple and Archie have been staying at Tyler Perry’s $18 million Beverly Hills mansion until they can properly begin searching for their permanent home in Hollywood. Though there is little for them to do and they haven’t been able to launch their new Archewell initiative, the Sussexes have reconnected with the royals.

“There have been clearly some quite major rifts in that relationship, but things have got better and I know that William and Harry are in touch on the phone,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. “They have done video calls together, they have done a lot of family birthdays and I think with Prince Charles not being well, that really forced the brothers to pick up the phone and get back in touch.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated Archie’s birthday with a video

Since the world had not seen Archie in some time, the Sussexes decided to share a video of the little boy during his storytime with the world. For the Save the Children UK charity, Meghan read Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s award-winning children’s book, Duck! Rabbit! to Archie while proud dad, Prince Harry filmed it.

In the video, Meghan calls the little one, Arch and Archie even smiled and cheered with his parents at the end. This wasn’t the only way the Sussexes celebrated Archie’s first birthday.

Archie’s best friends were at his birthday party

Though they were unable to have friends and family in attendance as they’d originally planned, the Sussexes still made Archie’s birthday party super special.

“Meghan made the cake — strawberries and cream,” a source told Express. “And Harry helped with decorations and blew up balloons. They Zoomed with godparents, friends, and family and had a really simple but incredibly joyous day.”

Despite the pandemic, Prince Harry and Meghan were able to have Archie’s “two best friends” in attendance, the Sussexes’ beagle, Guy, and a black Lab they adopted in 2018. “Archie “is best friends with his dogs,” the insider revealed. “They make him laugh and are gentle with him.”

We’d love to get out hands on Meghan’s strawberries and cream recipe.
