The Insane Reason The British Public Doesn’t Want Meghan Markle and Prince Harry To Receive Public Funding

This hasn’t exactly been an easy year for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle. Though the couple welcomed their first child — Archie Harrison on May 6, 2019, and they moved from their Kensington Palace apartment to their estate Frogmore Cottage in Windsor — every move they’ve made has been scrutinized to within an inch of its life.

According to the British press and public, the Sussexes can’t do anything right. They were criticized for using a jet that Sir Elton John gifted to them for a trip. Markle, in particular, has been bullied and harassed by the British press, and things have gotten so bad that the duke is now suing Mail on Sunday and its publishers for their treatment of his wife.

All of this has been very overwhelming for the Sussexes. It’s also helped widen the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry. Now, the newlyweds have retreated from the spotlight completely for a six-week hiatus where they will be spending time with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. Amid all of this, the couple popularity has suffered gravely.

This is why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity has suffered

Though no one wants to admit that sexism, racism, and nationalism play a major role in the Brits disdain for Markle — we have a sneaking suspicion that is the main reason for this discord. However, royal author Phil Dampier has other ideas.

“Nor does it surprise me that people think Harry and Meghan should pay their own way,” he told Sun on Sunday. “Their popularity has suffered. The public don’t like being lectured on climate change by a couple who take private jets or being told they can’t see Archie’s christening when they’ve paid for Frogmore Cottage to be renovated.”

The British public doesn’t think Meghan Markle and Prince Harry deserve any funding

A chunk of taxes that U.K. citizens pay goes toward the upkeep of the British Royal Family. Though Markle and Prince Harry have funded things themselves like the duchess wardrobe prior to their marriage, her NYC baby shower and the renovations on their Frogmore estate — that hasn’t been good enough for the Brits.

According to a new YouGov poll for the Sun on Sunday — just 38 percent of the British public believe the Sussexes should continue getting funding from them. In contrast, 71 percent of the public wants Queen Elizabeth to continue receiving public funding and 60 percent want Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William to continue receiving funding.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might have a new strategy when they return from hiatus.

Though privacy, their mental health and the well-being of their son are still paramount. Many royal experts believe that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will begin approaching life differently when they return from their six-week break.

After all in their documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey — the pair were both clear that they are simply existing and not living. That’s a terrible place to be in and something has got to give.

We hope they are able to figure this royal life out.
