Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Bought Their First House in Santa Barbara, Insider Says

When Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry fled their vacation home on Vancouver Island in Canada for LA, following their final royal engagements, fans were taken aback. The couple sited that one of their main reasons for Megxit was to have a more peaceful and private life. Meghan’s hometown seemed to be a strange choice.

Nevertheless, the couple has been living in LA since March 2020. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to rage on in the states, the couple has been hunkering down with their young son, Archie, and Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland.

As the pair are working behind the scenes to prep for the launch of their new venture, Archewell while staying abreast of global events and repairing their relationship with the British royal family, it appears they have set down some permanent roots.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just moved out of Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion

For four months, the Sussexes lived in media mogul Tyler Perry’s $18 million, Beverly Hills mansion. They were there for nearly two months before the press discovered their location. However, the vast and lush property provided them some much-needed privacy.

The stunning home includes eight-bedrooms and 12-bathrooms. It sits atop a hill in the exclusive Beverly Ridge Estates guard-gated community. In the past, Perry even hosted a fundraiser for former President Barack Obama at the estate. It also has extensive security in the community and on the property.

“Meghan and Harry have been extremely cautious to keep their base in LA under wraps,” an insider told Daily Mail. “Their team helped them choose the location for their transition to Los Angeles wisely.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to give Archie a normal childhood

Not only does Meghan have extensive roots in LA, but the Sussexes’ new powerhouse team is also located in California. Though it’s quite far from the British royal family, the couple really felt they could branch out and do good work without restrictive rules of royal life smothering them.

So far, things have gone rather smoothly except for some paparazzi flying drones over their home and getting snaps of their son, Archie playing by the pool. However, the couple opened a case with the LAPD, and things have seemingly been handled with no images leaked.

With so many celebrities and public figures living in LA, who do keep their family lives private, it might be an ideal place to raise Archie. “Even after lockdown is lifted they plan to keep [Archie] away from the cameras,” royal expert Kate Nicholl told Vanity Fair. “They want him to have an ordinary childhood away from the cameras.”

Inside Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new Santa Barbara home

The Sussexes have officially put down roots in California. They have purchased their very first home in Santa Barbara where they have reportedly already been living for six weeks.

The home sits in the seaside town 100 miles outside of LA which will afford them the peace and privacy that they crave. “They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbors, as well as for them as a family,” a spokesperson for the couple told HELLO! magazine. Tom Hanks, Mila Kunis, and Natalie Portman have all called Santa Barbara their home at one point or another. A source reportedly told Page Six

Harry and Meghan have been quietly living in their own home in Santa Barbara since early July. They’re not houseguests of Oprah [who also lives in the area] or anyone else, they bought this home themselves. This is where they want to continue their lives after leaving the UK. This is the first home either of them has ever owned. It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family — to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in. This is where they want to bring Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible.
