The Real Reason Meghan Markle Is Wearing A New Ring
Meghan Markle stunned this weekend when she appeared for the annual Trooping the Colour celebration. This celebration, which is the Queen’s annual birthday parade, is a large gathering of almost every member of the royal family. In fact, it is the only guaranteed public appearance for the royal family and the tradition dates all the way back to 1748. Though Markle attended the celebration last year, there was a bit of speculation about whether or not the duchess would make an appearance this year. However, the Duchess of Sussex did, in fact, appear and was sporting a new ring that sparked a fair amount of intrigue.
Second post-baby appearance
Though Markle gave birth only a month ago to royal baby Archie, she took a break from her maternity leave this past Saturday to attend the Trooping the Colour. The typical amount of time that royals take for maternity leave is around three months, and the former actress is actually expected to take even more, so Markle’s attendance was a welcome surprise. Arriving in a horse-drawn carriage with her husband, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Camilla Parker Bowles, Markle turned heads in a stunning navy dress from her favorite designer, Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy and a matching hat, courtesy of Noel Stewart.
But the hat wasn’t the only new accessory that the 37-year-old was sporting. As she waved to the crowds, many fans were quick to note that Markle had added another ring to her left ring finger. Serving as an addition to her engagement ring and wedding band, this delicate, gold ring has been dubbed a pave-set-ring by jewelers. It compliments the new mom’s other rings beautifully, but what is the real reason that the Duchess of Sussex is wearing an additional ring?
Though this is the first time that the new ring has been spotted by the public, it hardly means that this is Markle’s first time wearing it. As Saturday was only her second appearance since giving birth to Archie, it’s possible she’s been wearing the ring for weeks. Prince Harry and Markle celebrated their one year wedding anniversary a few weeks back, so it’s possible that the new ring was a gift that commemorates this important date. But, what is more probable is that this ring is, in fact, an eternity ring.
Eternity rings, also known as infinity rings, are known to symbolize everlasting love. They are generally delicate rings that are marked by diamonds that are set all the way around the band, which certainly fits the bill for Markle’s new bling. Eternity rings are generally given for two reasons. The first of which is for big anniversaries when a couple is reflecting on their ever-present love and commitment to one another. The second reason, and the one that seems most plausible for the duchess, is to commemorate the birth of a first child. What a sweet way to celebrate the birth of baby Archie.
But Markle isn’t the first royal to receive such a sweet and sentimental piece of jewelry. Hello! has reported that Kate Middleton also wears an eternity ring. The ring was given to her by Prince William after the birth of their first child, Prince George.
It seems that Prince Harry has taken cues from his older brother for this particular gift, and we think he did very well. Hopefully, the couple will continue to share the everlasting love that the ring symbolizes with each other and their newborn baby, Archie.
