Does Meghan Markle Think Royal Life Is Difficult?
Meghan Markle is the picture of serenity. In less than two years, the former actress has transformed her entire life–leaving behind her career in Hollywood and moving to the U.K. to a marry Prince Harry and become the Duchess of Sussex. From her pregnancy glow to her appearances at various charities and royal events, Markle seems to have mastered life in the British Royal Family.
However, despite her perfect smile–things haven’t been easy for Markle. She’s had to deal with horrible sexist and racist attacks from the British press, trolling from her own family, and a level of fame that she could have never imagined. Is Markle struggling in her new royal life?
Does Meghan Markle think royal life is difficult?
Though Markle is doing royal her own way –breaking royal tradition by having a New York City baby shower and speaking out as a feminist, it seems like she is still trying to adjust in her new life. Royal biographer Penny Junor says that Markle is finding royal life a bit difficult. Junor told The Sun, “Clearly there is something going on here. I think life must be very difficult for Meghan. She’s had a completely different life, she didn’t really know the British royal family, how it operated and what her life would be like. She is clearly used to being her own woman, operating at her own hours and behaving the way she needs to, to get on in a very, very competitive world.”
Meghan Markle is also being accused of being too independent
Though she was a famous actress who was used to the public spotlight, being a royal brings very different pressures. An insider told the Daily Mail, “Even though [Meghan] was a famous actress, she could still do what she wanted in the way of getting around freely, But in her current role she can’t go anywhere without her protection team, and that’s a massive constraining force on an individual like her.”
Duncan Larcombe, who covered the royal family for London’s The Sun explained, “As an actress, Meghan expects perfection, But when you’re in the royal family, you have to learn that it’s not about you, it’s about what you represent.”
