Meghan Markle Styles Herself. How You Can Get the Duchess’ Look
Since marrying Prince Harry, Markle has become a prominent figure in the fashion realm. People from all around the world look to the Duchess for style tips and inspiration.
Most royals have a good fashion sense. They are photographed all the time, so they have to look their best. But those royals usually have stylists to ensure that they are looking neat and proper all of the time. Markle, on the other hand, reportedly styles herself.
Her friends told People that Markle’s styling is all done by the Duchess herself.
“I was with her last month, and she was going on
Since moving into her royal role, she has consulted others in the family for advice from time to time.
“Meghan has certainly turned to Kate for guidance and inspiration,” a source told Elle.com.
Meghan is also best friends with stylist Jessica Mulroney, so that certainly helps when it comes to finding things to wear.
How to dress like a Duchess
If you love Markle’s style but don’t have a royal budget, there are certain things that you can do to get the Duchess’ looks for less.
The first thing you can do is buy the basics. Markle tends to dress in nude, understated tones. These items can be found anywhere from Macy’s to Nordstrom and the beauty about them is that they can be mixed and matched and worn over and over again.
The next thing that you can do is tailor a few of the pieces that you already own. Buying items in the store will give you a pretty good fit, but what sets Markle’s looks apart from others is how perfectly everything fits her. A basic dress that fits you like a glove can take a look from a 3 to a 10 in no time.
Another thing you can do if you live in a colder area is invest in a few good coats. Living in England, Markle has to dress for colder temperatures from time to time so she has a number of great coats. If you’re going for Markle’s look, stay away from shorter jackets or leather. Markle holds her royal essence by wearing longer coats that hit her mid-calf or trenchcoats.
J. Crew has a number of coats that fit this bill, as does Nordstrom.
The last thing that Markle really loves are long skirts. As a Duchess, she can’t really show much skin so long skirts are a great way to keep her girly flare without looking too risque. When copying this style, try to go for skirts that hit below the knee or lower.
Saks Fifth Avenue is a great place to search for skirts like this, or if you’re in a pinch for time and on a budget, Macy’s is also a great option.
