When a video goes viral, getting invited to appear on a talk show might be wishful thinking but it does happen. Sure enough, a dance instructor and one of her students were asked to do just that after a video of them performing together went viral.
Ellen DeGeneres brought the teacher and young girl on her Emmy award-winning talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and revealed how she heard about their serious dance moves: a text message from Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. Find out how Ellen DeGeneres played a role in Markle adopting a dog.
On Friday, Nov. 1, 2019’s episode of the 61-year-old’s show, dance instructor Jeny Bonsenge and her nine-year-old student, Anae, went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show after a video of them went viral on YouTube in October 2019. The video of the two from Belgium has more than 16 million views, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
Ellen DeGeneres got a text from Meghan Markle about dancers
When Bonsenge and Anae sat down with DeGeneres, the comedian explained to her guests — and studio audience — how exactly the duo’s dancing skills came to her attention.
“Do you know how I found the two of you?” DeGeneres asked.
She continued, revealing a certain member of the British royal family texted her about their dance moves.
“Meghan Markle sent me this video, she texted me and said, ‘What do you think of this? How great is this girl?”’ she recalled.
Upon learning that Markle had seen their video, and played a major role in their getting to appear on the show and meet DeGeneres, they were shocked. Meanwhile, the audience applauded.
DeGeneres then revealed how she responded to the Duchess of Sussex’s message. “I know, I said ‘I can’t wait for everybody to see how amazing this is.’”

DeGeneres on meeting Archie
This wasn’t the first time DeGeneres mentioned Markle and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, on her talk show. In a previous episode, the comedian revealed she met Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the couple’s son whom they welcomed on May 6, 2019.
The talk show host and her wife, actress Portia De Rossi, visited with Prince Harry, Markle, and Archie when they went to the U.K. over the summer. She commented on their meeting and said she got to feed baby Archie.
She called it “an honor” to meet the couple and described them as “so amazing,” “down-to-earth,” and the “cutest” adding a little bit about the infant, whose parents refused a royal title, and is simply referred to as Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
He’s seventh in the line of succession and as DeGeneres jokingly said, “has a perfectly circular head.” She added, “He looks just like Harry and he had more hair than I did at the time,” according to Elle UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Africa for their first royal tour as a family of three from Sept. 23 to Oct. 2, 2019. Archie made his debut when he joined his parents during a meeting with Desmond Tutu.
