Inside Meghan Markle’s Lush U.K. Baby Shower

Meghan Markle might be on maternity leave –but her schedule is still packed with private events and meetings. The mother-to-be is preparing for the arrival of Baby Sussex, and she’s moving into her new 10-bedroom estate, Frogmore House with her husband, Prince Harry. Though there are still a ton of things to get in place before the duchess gives birth in late April or early May, the royal family and her friends in the U.K. want to make Markle feel as celebrated as possible.

Following her lavish New York City baby shower held in February 2019 and thrown by her besties Jessica Mulroney and Serena Williams, Meghan Markle will be having a second baby shower in the U.K.

Meghan Markle will be throwing a second baby shower for herself in the coming weeks. This time, two very special guests will be in attendance. Markle’s husband, Prince Harry, was working in London to support the StreetGames “Fit and Fed” initiative, so he was unable to attend her first shower. Also, Markle’s mother Doria Ragland did not travel from her home in Los Angeles to attend the NYC festivities. But this time around with the prince and Ragland will be in attendance.

According to Daily Mail, baby shower 2.0 is expected to be “a handful of Meghan’s most intimate friends. Doria is coming to a baby shower here. It will be a small gathering of five or six people.”

Where will Meghan Markle’s U.K. baby shower be held?

Originally, Markle had wanted to host the shower at her new home –Frogmore House. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem like a possibility since renovations aren’t quite finished –so she’s had to choose another location. According to Daily Mail –Markle will be hosting her shower at Buckingham Palace. We wonder if Queen Elizabeth is invited.

Will Kate Middleton attend Meghan Markle’s U.K. baby shower?

As Markle nears the end of her pregnancy, it appears that she and her sister-in-law, Duchess Kate Middleton have grown closer. Therefore, we expect to see the Duchess of Cambridge on the guest list for Markle’s shower. It should be a new experience for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis’ mom who has never had a baby shower of her own.

Baby showers are not really a thing in the United Kingdom. Gift-giving is seen as rather “American” and typically British women wait until after they give birth to have a meet and greet with their babies and their friends.

Inside Meghan Markle’s stunning NYC baby shower

Meghan Markle’s U.K. baby shower will be a lot more quaint than the one she had in NYC. According to Entertainment Tonight, French chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten –who is The Mark’s world-renowned chef prepared the food for the shower. Though we don’t know exactly was on the menu, some of Vongerichten’s signature dishes are molten chocolate cake and ginger fried rice. For sweets, both sugar cookies and cotton candy were on hand. Apparently, the shower cost Markle’s friends $200,000.
