Meghan Markle Wants to Give This Special Gift to Baby Archie

Meghan Markle is clearly all about her baby boy, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. From the day he was born, she’s reportedly been infatuated with him, raving about him and buying him the most precious gifts.

In fact, she’s reportedly in the middle of planning a major surprise for baby Archie right now. A new report says the Duchess of Sussex will gift him with something he can grow up with over the next few years.

Here’s what she plans on giving him.

Baby Archie will have his own pet

According to The Sun, Markle wants to adopt a rescue dog for baby Archie, so he can have something to play with as he grows up at Frogmore Cottage.

“Rescue dogs are a huge passion for [Markle] so the pull to adopt rather than buy a puppy is far stronger,” a source told the publication. “Meghan really wants a dog with whom Archie can associate his childhood,” the insider continued. “She hopes they strike up an incredible bond and Archie can make plenty of memories.”

The report says that she’s been touring rescue centers near their home for a “suitable hound.” The dog would be the couple’s third pet. Markle has one rescue dog, Guy, who moved with her from Canada to London and she and Prince Harry also adopted a dog last fall.

Markle used to own another dog named Bogart. However, she had to leave him behind when she moved to the United Kingdom due to his old age.

The plan surfaced after baby Archie’s christening

It’s unclear when Markle intends on giving Archie the new pooch. But the report surfaced after the christening of her son. Her mother Doria Ragland, who attended the July 6 event, is the one who reportedly encouraged Markle to get another dog. So maybe he’ll get it sooner rather than later.

Will Archie ever have siblings?

It’s nice that he’ll have a dog to keep him company. But this report definitely makes you wonder whether the two-month-old will ever have siblings to play around with. While many royal fans have suspected that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t wait long to have another baby, royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight in July that they’re taking their time.

“People are already speculating about baby number two for the Sussexes,” Nicholl told ET. “I think it’s probably a little premature to be speaking about a second baby. That said, sources close to the couple told me that they really would love to have a big family. They are, by all accounts, amazing parents. They are loving parenthood.”

Tonight, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the first of a two game series of the Major League Baseball #LondonSeries, in support of @WeAreInvictusGames. Tonight’s highly anticipated game between the #Yankees and #RedSox took place at London stadium, Olympic Park. The @WeAreInvictusGames, of which His Royal Highness is Founding Patron, has been selected as charity partner for the @MLB 2019 series. The word ‘invictus’ means ‘unconquered’ – it embodies the fighting spirit of the competitors. As part of the partnership, the Invictus Games Foundation have a team participating in London’s #Softball60, the social softball series built for the city and targeted to introduce the sport to new audiences and demonstrate that it is an inclusive sport. That’s not to say that it won’t happen soon, though.  Nicholl continued, “They absolutely want siblings for Archie, so possibly we will have a pregnancy announcement — a second pregnancy announcement for Meghan and Harry sometime next year — but, for the moment, the focus is obviously on Archie.”

Prince Harry and Markle have been busy

Aside from planning Archie’s christening, the couple also recently renovated Frogmore Cottage. The five-bedroom pad received updates to its kitchen, bathroom, wardrobes, and flooring. They also re-landscaped the garden and more.

Fans won’t be able to see the updates until the fall when Vogue publishes photos of the renovations. But it sounds like a perfect place for the royal family — dogs included.
