Meghan Markle’s Birth Plan: All the Details on How and Where the Royal Baby will be Delivered
It’s almost time for the royal baby to arrive. Seriously, the newest Sussex could be here any minute and there is still so much to do.
Since the announcement of her pregnancy, Meghan Markle has been doing things her own way. As more and more facts come out about her birth plan, it’s clear that the Duchess of Sussex will not be following anyone else’s rules anytime soon.
Where will the baby be born?
The British royal family is all about tradition. Since 1977, the family has chosen the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital as the place to deliver their children. Prince Harry was born at St. Mary’s in 1984 and all of Prince William’s children were also born at the hospital.
But Markle doesn’t want to have her baby there.
Since the couple is living in Frogmore Cottage, Markle reportedly wants to give birth somewhere closer to home. One of the places that she is considering is Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey. This is the same location where Harry’s aunt, Sophie Countess of Wessex, chose to give birth to her children.
“If their Royal Highnesses have moved to Frogmore Cottage before the birth, as planned, Frimley Park may be a more easily accessible option than St Mary’s,” a source told the Daily Mail.
Frimley Park is only 15 miles from the couple’s new home, whereas St. Mary’s is 23 miles away.
But St. Mary’s is on standby should Markle decide to have the baby there.
“Staff at the Lindo Wing have been asked not to take holiday in April,” a source told The Telegraph. “Everyone thinks it’s got something to do with the royal baby but no one is confirming anything.”
