Meghan Markle’s Brother Says She’s About to Cut Off Her Mother Doria Ragland
It’s no secret that Meghan Markle has a tense relationship with her father, Thomas Markle Snr. The two reportedly had a falling out around the royal wedding, and they haven’t spoken much since.
But when it comes to her mother, Doria Ragland, things seem to be a lot better. Ragland had a front-row seat at her daughter’s wedding, and she’s always around for special events, like baby Archie Harrison’s July 6 christening. But according to Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., that may be about to change.
Thomas Jr. said his sister will shut out her mother soon
Thomas Jr. told The Mirror on July 27 that he believes Ragland will meet a similar fate as his father. He told the publication that Ragland already only gets to spend time with her daughter “a day here, a day there,” adding, “That’s about it.”
“That’s probably the next relationship that’s going to fall off the map,” he speculated.
It’s unclear what prompted him to say that, but it’s worth pointing out that Thomas Jr., 53, hasn’t spoken to his sister in some time. In fact, he told the outlet that they’re essentially strangers.
“Personally I feel I don’t know this Meghan any more. My father doesn’t know this Meghan any more,” he said. “This is a different Meghan than we all grew up with. It’s very, very strange.”
What’s going on with Markle and her dad?
The Duchess of Sussex has been estranged from their father since around her wedding day on May 19, 2018. He’d been invited to the event but backed out at the last minute after suffering from heart issues. Before bailing, it was revealed that Thomas Snr. had staged paparazzi photos ahead of the big day.
Markle later told him in a letter, “Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces.”
Thomas Jr. wants the royal family to fix their issues
That’s right — he wants Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles to “step in” and tell the duchess to “make amends” with her old man.
“I think the Queen should step in and tell Meghan to make amends with her father and family,” he told the publication. “Charles should step in and say, ‘Something’s not right.’ They should force her into this, or it’s just going to continue to cause problems in her life.”
He made an impassioned plea to his sister
Thomas Jr. went on to call on his sister to “open up” and let her family into her life. “You do have a family in the United States, and we all love and care about you,” he said. “Someday I hope you’re smart enough and mature enough to open up and let your family into your life, and baby Archie’s life.”
“Most of all, I hope you call your father and let him be at least a part of yours and Archie’s life. You owe him that,” he continued.
The comments come weeks after he said he was “on a personal crusade to better the family image.” He also noted, “It’s going be a slow, long process.”
He’s right about that. We’ll keep you posted on what happens from here.
