Meghan Markle’s Favorite Holiday Cocktail Includes Almond Milk
Meghan Markle’s top holiday hosting tips are taking the internet by storm. The Duchess of Sussex is currently gearing up to spend Christmas with her mother, Doria Ragland, in Los Angeles, and a recently unearthed video reveals how she prepares for the holiday. From her favorite recipes to a delicious cocktail that features almond milk, here are Meghan’s top tips for hosting over the holidays.
Meghan Markle’s favorite cocktail
During the holiday season, there nothing like a good cocktail to spice things up. For Meghan, her go-to Christmas cocktail is actually an almond milk spiced holiday cocktail.
This specialty drink is not complicated to make and can be pulled off with a simple list of ingredients, such as dates (six to eight), cinnamon (one tsp), unsweetened almond milk (four cups), cardamom (one tsp), powdered ginger (one tsp), clove (half tsp), and, of course, bourbon.
Start by putting everything except the bourbon into a blender until mixed well. Then heat the mixture in a saucepan on low. Add a few shots of bourbon, depending on how strong you want to make it.
After heating, pour the result in a set of glasses and finish it off with a garnish of cinnamon stick. Repeat the process if your guests are thirsty for more.
Markle decorates for Christmas
According to Marie Claire, Meghan Markle also discussed the finer points of decorating the home for holiday guests. The former Suits star is a big fan of magnolia branches and traditional garland, which is typically used on mantles or banisters.
But Meghan likes to tweak this approach by decorating items in the house that are normally left alone for the holidays.
This includes adding a string of garland or magnolia branches around picture frames or mirrors. You could also try this on a piece of art that is the main attraction of a room.
“Traditionally garland or magnolia branches are used to adorn a stairwell banister or mantle,” Meghan Markle shared. “Take this concept and trim the outline of a mirror or beautiful piece of artwork that is centrally located in your entry hallway or living room.”
The interview was done in 2015, a few years before Meghan met her future husband, Prince Harry, so there is a chance her style has changed over the years. Even still, the garland trick is a great way to add some holiday spirit to your home without too much hassle.
The Duchess of Sussex’s best holiday food ideas
For Meghan Markle, the holidays are all about spending time with friends and family. With that in mind, the Duchess advises everyone who is joining in the holiday dinner to bring a dish or come prepared to help out in the kitchen.
If you are thinking about bringing a side dish to share, Meghan Markle is a huge fan of maple-glazed potato wedges.
For this recipe, you will need two sweet potatoes, olive oil (two tbsp), lemon juice (half), maple syrup (one tbsp), cayenne pepper (1/2 tsp), sea salt, and a few pepitas.
Begin by cutting the potatoes in wedges and coating them with the olive oil, maple syrup, and lemon juice mixture. Once they are fully covered, toss the taters with some cayenne and salt, according to your taste.
The wedges should be baked in the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for half an hour. Around 15 minutes into the bake, toss them again and add the pepitas for some extra texture.
Inside Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Christmas
While Meghan has spent the past two holidays with Harry’s family at Sandringham, she will be spending Christmas with her mom this year.
Meghan and Harry traveled to California a few weeks ago to spend Thanksgiving with Ragland and are expected to remain in America through Christmas. It is unclear if they will be making any public appearances, but Meghan is likely excited about enjoying the holidays with her side of the family for a change.
The couple’s baby, Archie Harrison, also made the trip with them. This is his first stay in America, so hopefully the trio has an amazing holiday season with friends and family.
Meghan Markle has not commented on the recently surfaced video of her top holiday hosting tips. It would be interesting to know what she would recommend now, especially since she is a part of the royal family.
