It’s a well-known fact that the Duchess of Sussex is devoted to yoga. She even built her own studio at Frogmore Cottage, the home she shares with Prince Harry. It is no wonder the duchess prefers this form of exercise since her mother, Doria Ragland, has been a yoga instructor for years. The duchess has been known to wake up early to practice her favorite poses and get her day going in the most invigorating way possible.

The Duchess of Sussex also puts a strong emphasis on fueling her body with whole, fresh foods. She doesn’t diet, but it’s clear that she is careful and intentional about what she eats. So what does Meghan Markle typically eat? It turns out her diet choices have changed over the years as she’s gone through various seasons of her life. She was once thought to be vegan, although she famously roasted a chicken the night she and Prince Harry got engaged, but any information available about her diet points to the fact that it’s constantly evolving.

The royal family has an indulgent Christmas meal

There is no question that the royal family knows how to put on a proper party. While the Queen may have a few strict rules when it comes to planning a menu, former royal chef Darren McGrady dished on the family’s typical Christmas day grub and it’s just as indulgent and you’d expect. According to McGrady, the family has a hearty breakfast before church and lunch after the service can include, “salad with shrimp or lobster, and a roasted turkey, and all of your traditional side dishes.” They end the post-church lunch with brandy butter for dessert.

But that’s just lunch. Afternoon tea is served with fruitcake following the Queen’s Christmas speech. According to Reader’s Digest, all other meals pale in comparison to the Christmas buffet dinner. McGrady divulged that the dinner buffet normally includes about 15 to 20 items that range from a variety of roasted meats and various vegetable sides for dinner to flaming pudding and gingerbread cookies for dessert. All of this, of course, is served with various drinks such as hard ciders and brandy.

Does Meghan Markle indulge during the holidays?

There is no doubt Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry get invited to numerous parties throughout the holiday season. So, has Duchess Meghan found an ideal way to cheat on her diet but still keep her overall fitness and diet in check? According to Insider, her trainer, Sebastien Lagree, has some easy tips for how to stay healthy even when faced with unhealthy food choices that she likely follows.

Lagree’s top tips for staying fit over the holidays start with making goals that you know you will stick to. Being realistic is the best way to stay focused when it comes to your fitness routine.

He says if you know you are going to be served a heavy, multi-course meal, not unlike the Christmas buffet dinner served at the royal family gathering, snack on something healthy beforehand. Make sure to eat slowly to avoid indulging too much, and always be sure to keep a glass of water handy.

Don’t try to crash diet, and most importantly, allow yourself to enjoy the season. Instead of depriving yourself, remember to consume your favorite treats in moderation, and you will set yourself up for success. If Duchess Meghan follows her trainer’s advice, she probably does enjoy a few “cheats” during the holidays while keeping in mind Lagree’s tips for not getting too far off track from her fitness goals.

Who is Meghan Markle’s trainer?

So, who does Duchess Meghan credit for her svelte body? Sebastien Lagree is a Los Angeles-based fitness guru who just so happens to be the inventor of one of the most effective workouts around.

The routine — known simply as ‘Lagree’ — is a high-intensity, low-impact exercise that is done on a Megaformer machine. This fun sweat session combines endurance, flexibility, and core training to deliver one of the most powerful workouts ever, and it is really catching on among celebrities such as Kim Kardashian West, Chrissy Teigen, and even Michelle Obama.

Wondering what a Megaformer machine actually is? Similar to a pilates reformer, this piece of exercise equipment with two platforms and a gliding middle carriage gets the user’s body working to the maximum level in order to deliver the best results.
