Meghan Markle’s Pregnancy Cravings Are Super Sweet

Duchess Meghan Markle is currently heading into her third trimester. The Suits alum is gearing up to welcome her first child with her husband, Prince Harry. Though the duchess is quite pregnant, she hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to attending royal events, traveling with her husband, and even sticking to her daily yoga routine and workout regimen. The Duchess of Sussex has been open about her healthy diet, and love of food and exercise. However, with a changing body and elevated hormones, the former actress certainly isn’t immune to pregnancy cravings.

Though Markle adheres to a strict pregnancy diet which of course means no alcohol, no soft cheeses, and saying no to rare steak and sushi, there are a couple of super sweet pregnancy cravings that Markle has been indulging in.

Chocolates and candies

Typically, Markle has said that her favorite foods are more savory than sweet. She once told Cosmopolitan U.K., “I could eat french fries all day.” She’s also been open about her obsession with her childhood favorite macaroni and cheese.  She told EyeSwoon, “I now buy the Annie’s organic one if I’m craving it, but I throw some frozen peas into it and have this gooey simple childlike meal. I used to cook it for the kids I would babysit, and I always enjoyed feeling like a kid and eating with them.”

However, now that she has a baby on board, the duchess’ taste buds have shifted quite a bit. A royal insider told InTouch Weekly, “She’s been eating much more cheese than she used to — pasteurized, of course — and Harry has been buying her British candy and chocolates. She caves and eats well-done chips [fries], but mostly she sticks to her very healthy, clean eating.”  We wonder if Markle is obsessed with Jelly Babies, Flake, or Pear Drops.

Other cravings

Unfortunately, there are things that Markle adores like her beloved green juice and feta cheese, that she won’t be able to indulge in again until Spring 2019 when Baby Sussex has made his or her debut. Luckily, Markle can still have fruits and other healthy alternatives as a substitute. Her all-time favorite fruit is watermelon. She once told Today, “I have always loved watermelon and relish any opportunity to eat it, whether plain or diced up with feta and mint and tossed with a little olive oil. It makes me think of summertime. On set and at home, I try to always have a container of watermelon sprinkled with cinnamon because it elevates the flavor just a notch, and makes it feel special.”

She’ll simply have to hold the cheese.
